I've recently gone back to ToR after taking a months break from it . I was glad to see the customer support panel is not unbindable . It was a real pain hitting it by accident in the middle of combat .I don't think its as bad a game as some people would have you believe nor is it as good a game as it could of been which is a pity . To me ToR is more co-op rpg than an mmo and it really should have been a buy to play game . I think I probably will get one or two months more play out of it and then go back for the odd patch whem something catches my interest . This isn't what developers want from an subscriber and sadly I think Bioware made some fundemental errors in its design in this respect . Having said that I'm enjoying it for what it is but its not my new home . Theres also a lot of people in general chat talking about the need for server merges . I was playing on the Alderan map today which is pretty large ( and visually quite impressive ) and there was only 14 people in the whole area . The community seems to be very nice in the game though so thats a big plus for me .

@tenfootgoatman

Majority of mmos now a days are co-op RPGs. Wow killed the group quests when leveling a while ago, most of other mmos killed group content and restricted it to the group instances. At least in TOR you had more group content when leveling with heroics but people tend to either skip them or its hard to form a group.

People skip the Heroic (group) *because* it's too hard to find groups. I would love to do them whenever they pop up, but you all too often wind up finishing everything else and leaving the planet before a group can be put together. I find it's getting a little worse as server population drops some, so the pool of players gets diminished.

Yeah I noticed this with the Heroic stuff. I think it would have helped greatly in this to be able to teleport to party members, guild mates, or friends for the purposes of doing these heroic quests. Or even in general. But I guess teleporting is not in the game because travel is a time sink, and persistent-world gamers would probably oppose it.

Passed. Might be tempted to return by 15-day trial in about a year though.

If I'm not still immersed in GW2 or the other MMOs I'm currently playing.

Just finished a ToR session and I have to say at first I didn't get it but the more I play the more I like it. I'm getting invested in the companions and caring more and more about my character's decisions. I haven't had this much fun since my early WoW days. I will never forget the epic 20 min fight I had with commander Tavus on my trooper. I think I'm in love guys, am I lame for liking the next big thing? =(

Nah dude, if its fun for you, go for it. Even if you only sub for 1 or 2 months, but you have a good time in the process, its all good.

Thats how everybody feels at first, weird at first, then awesome, then tedious, then slowly becomes a pain, then just plain boring.

Thats the swtor cycle. Of course having a crapload of missing features doesn't help keep you hooked after the first 1-2 months.

I played the free weekend and had a lot of fun with it. I hit the level 15 cap and reached the end of the progression (up to end of second planet). I played a Jedi Knight and upgraded into Jedi Guardian. It was amusing progressing him to Dark Side alignment (was Dark II), while the storyline characters did not care about the Sith blackening on my character. While I'd like to play the game more, I ended up not subscribing anyways, here my feedback:

PRO:
- Flashpoints (and by extension the group dialogue)
- Companions (sending them off, or having them fight at your side)
- Graphics (not cutting edge, but good and enjoyable)
- PVP minigames are fun (i only played a few, up to 8 valor)

CON:
- Active skill bloat (1 hotbar did not seem to be enough)
- Choices don't matter (I executed every NPC i could, no one cared)
- Way too many crew skills to make sense of
- Gear progression too fast (Constantly looting slightly better gear off dead trash mobs to replace existing gear does not feel very Star Wars-ish)

Extra CON:
- It is EA. EA sucks, don't support EA.
- It is subscription-based. (Sub-based games have too many timesinks)
- Persistent world. (Various problems inherent with persistent worlds games such as inconveniently respawning mobs, mobs and npcs being static)

@h4ngedm4n Your choices do matter, especially in the personal story they can seriously impact the outcome of many events through out your characters story. As for world missions, BioWare said the choices you make now will sometimes come back with repercussion's later on in story arcs that are tied to them within the overarching story, Your choices on Nar Shadaa and Alderaan for instance, really mean something in the long term. Unfortunately we don't get too many situations that showcase this, yet but they're coming this year.

@h4ngedm4n to address your cons-

1. It's possible to have 4 hotbars on the screen at once. Two at the bottom and one on each side.

2. Choices are more for alignment than anything, true, but there are some choices during the main storyline that affect how it plays/ends. IA is a great example of the different ways your story can go. (I'll refrain from spoilers but if you haven't played the Agent class you absolutely have to! Best story an in MMO by a mile, even beats a lot of single player stories imo. It's a MUST play!)

3. Crew skills are basically split into 3 categories: Gathering, 'Comp Missions' (basically gathering but there aren't nodes, only comps can go out and get), and crafting. If you look in your codex at a crafting skill it will recommend what two gathering skills to pick from. Might be a little overwhelming at first, but it's quite simple once you get the hang of it.

4. I do agree gear progresses rather fast which is why orange gear is the best! Just keep upgrading that baby via comms/crafting/gtn and it feels very Star Warsy imo.

I definitely enjoy this game and sounds like you would as well, if you aren't too bothered by a sub. I really haven't had any issue timesinks in this game as much as I have a few others. There's so much content in this game, solo and group, that I'm still finding new things to do. As long as you join a server with a good community then population issues that people complain about on here won't be an issue. The last week the game has been very active, I've seen several servers with short ques even.

If anything you should check it back out when 1.2 hits.

I've had 7 friends who took advantage of the free trial and 6 of them are going to be subscribing to the game. The one who won't be is because he's leaving the country for work and won't have the time.

Hi, Pexxle Pollux (Imperial) here on the Kath Hound RP server. Glad to see some of you are not into Swtor! If you ever happen to make it to level 50 and decide to PvP, I will be sure to hand your ass to you, encouraging that you quit (again).
