I'd love to play a non-FPS, PvE-oriented postapocalyptic sci-fi MMO.

Something like, say, Tabula Rasa.... :(

It's gotta be a world based off of Red Dead Redemption (or at the least TSR's old Boot Hill game).

I would drop every other MMO for a good Old West based MMO.

A good Steam-punk MMO; not some bad big boobed final fantasy version of one. So in my bitter fashion there isn't an MMO of this genre yet.

Cyber-punk: I would most definitely check out a well done one. Though I suppose Neocron was the closest thing to this. I don't think there has been one of the genre since then. Does the Matrix MMO even count?

A Mayan/Aztec mythology/ancient astronaut MMO.

The only possible limit in such a scenario would be the imagination of the developers.

I want...
A weird west/steampunk/lovcraftian horror mmo.

A Thundaar the Barbarian mmo, or something like it. Influences from the sword and planet genre. Mix in some Tarzan with a little bit from He-man.

A noir/golden age superhero/crime mmo. Set it in the 1930's, all black and white except splashes of bright colors like Sin City. Think The Shadow, Dick Tracey, Green Hornet. Oh, and it's always nighttime.

Lovecraft/Cthulhu

Wheel of Time-based MMO

Riddle-Master of Hed-type MMO, but you could use real trivia/scholastic stuff as riddles for combat. Oh, wait, that would be an "Are you smarter than a 5th grader" MMO.

Oops, forgot to add.

Since everyone is enthusiastic about Westerns - how about something different? Make it Native American-centric in resisting encroaching settlers, Army, etc. Oooh, or based on a mythical USA a la "Tales of Alvin the Maker" by Orson Scott Card so people could use magic.

Wing Commander or Babylon 5 MMO. Both settings provide different environment but similar opportunity to build solid sandbox. Wide variety of skills and directions to pursue. And storyline ready in case they need one.

OK, you want an idea for a different MMO, one that is radically different from anything out there? I have one, but it's weird, so weird that I'm not even sure I would play it. But I know some people who would. How about a sand-box style . . . (wait for it) . . . Soap Opera Game. Think about it. You can break up marriages, put marriages together, have a profession (doctor, hip restaurant owner, model), get involved with your family against rival families, solve murder mysteries, anything is possible.

Take Pre-CU SWG, Update the Engine and fix the issues and drop it into a Western. BOOM! Done!

Skill trees would work wonderfully for it. Gunfighter, trapping/rifleman/hunter, Army skills, non-combat artisan/barkeep/etc, it just works. Could take little pieces of this skill or that or go all out, freakin' perfect.

The world would work too. SWG had TONS of real estate and this game was what? 10 years old now? Plenty of room for player made towns/villages/huts/trading outposts in the wilderness. SOE, take what you made and hop on that!

I would be all over an MMO based on the pen and paper RPG CyberPunk 2020.

Gritty near future world that is based in a world of cybernetic enhancements, streets filled with crime and ruled by corporations. Basically Shadowrun without the magic.
