I am pretty excited about this. I have had an account since back in 2000 that I played on and off. Will be nice to be able to log back in whenever I want to play around.

Now if SOE would just get off their fricking asses and make Vanguard F2P I would be one happy camper.

That's what that Euro publisher told a chat room when all the dust up happened. No official word BUT everything else is either shutting down or going free. PS and VG are the only paid games left I think.

vanguard F2P would rock. all that game needs is population and it would shine like the gem that it is.

I guess they give us 100 free station points too as my account had that. Looks like races are 750 station cash and classes are 300 station cash each, but it covers the entire account, not just one server.

Not too bad and I might get a group together and play this week.

I thought races were 300 and classes were 750.

Careful thought...not every race can be any class. Unless they changed that.

Yeah Yellow I might have that reversed. They give you human for free though which can be any class.

Although SOE try to influence you to start on the new Vox server, remember that on that server you have to pay to unlock anything over the basic 4 classes and 4 races, whereas if you have old characters on other servers they are automatically unlocked regardless of race and class.

Does anyone know if those characters' races and classes as well as their slots (if over the limit) remain unlocked if you delete them and re-roll?

Also, bear in mind that any existing account even if lapsed has automatically been upgraded to silver.

Characters that existed prior to F2P are unlocked. The race and/or class is not unlocked, just that character. So if you had an Iksar Monk like I did, you can play him, but you have to pay to unlock Iksar if you want to roll another character with that race. Likewise you would have to pay to unlock Monk if you wanted to roll a Human Monk.

Basically, existing characters are "grandfathered" so you can play them, but you have no account unlocks from that.

Alas, my old EQ adventuring buddy has no interest in returning because his main already has over 1000 AAs, putting him beyond the Silver account cap. He'd have to subscribe, which is what caused him to quit in the first place, with all the great f2p games out there. Without him, I'll not be returning either.

Unless...there wouldn't happen to be a one-time purchasable AA cap unlock, would there? I might be able to convince him to spring for that.

http://www.everquest.com/shop

That is the link to the shop. Haven't looked through it yet. Just started downloading the game again. I am a little annoyed that they are putting in the ridiculous race/class purchase thing, but I think I had all the characters made that I wanted the last time I played.

Thank you for the good news, Yellowdancer! I seem to be unable to see the items in the shop at Maseno's link. (I imagine I need to install the whole game to see them.) Would you mind reporting how much the AA cap raisers cost and how far they raise the cap? That really might convince my friend to return. Believe it or not, grinding AAs was one of his favorite activities! Again, thanks!

250 for AA and Task cap raisers. They only apply to one character though. Most of the stuff in SOE cash shops seems reasonable. Also, SC are 2 for one today and tomorrow.
