Really? That's funny, because I've seen perfectly legitimate concerns about GW2 not get downvoted at all due to being presented in a straight and proper fashion... hell, I've responded to some to offer explanations or references if I saw them lacking in research. There's a difference between having a valid opinion, and having a valid opinion whilst coming off as completely obnoxious.

Also should note that RIFT, SWTOR, TARA, WAR, AoC and pretty much every MMO ever that people got excited about all had the exact same "rabid fanboy" problem you're spitting at Tiz now; most recent being SWTOR and the legions of the Bioware Defense Force that hung around directly following launch. It's NOT exclusive to GW2, and your post carries you as if you really believed it was.

@MrGrimord

Completely agree on that front. I'm sure D3 will be good, but I loved Torchlight more than any of the Diablo games, so I'll likely be holding out for that.

@Flicktion

You almost made a valid point about the problem of groupthink on these forums -- but then you had to launch a personal attack on the original poster by calling him a fanboy.

He wasn't insulting anyone. He's right; there are a faction of people who routinely post simply to attack whatever's popular, and to convince themselves they're "cool, original, and knowledgeable" thereby.

Your own need to insult betrays your own bias, and undercuts your own credibility.

It's days like that this that I wish Activision and EA never bought good game studios to ruin them.

Bribe is the right word. Not to metion that they are now hyping up MOP and annual pass guaranties players into beta of MOP. Be that for 1 weekend or not... Blizzard does not say.

Personally I would not recomend ppl to pay a year sub of WOW to get free Diablo. Cause we are in no way sure that MOP will even be out in that time. Every sub they get now for a year guaranties them money without adding to WOW.

MOP could be the last expansion for WOW if they get it wrong tho. Diablo 3 looks to be avarage at best CONSIDERING the 5 years it has been in the making.

But lets see what Runic does now. Torchlight 2 needs to launch at least month before or die. Runic has done horrible job with TL2 IMO.

@Deadalon Well, buying a year of WoW JUST to get D3 is a bad call, but getting D3 free if you are a WoW player already isn't really. A lot of people are in the latter category.

Buying a year sub just for the purpose of getting Diablo 3, if you aren't planning on playing wow, would be pretty silly though.

So yeah this retard is on a multi year long crusade against Runic Games, and several developers, spending his days trolling endelessly (and not even intelligently) several game communities.

It's you that kept crying that TL2 is not even playable atm, claiming that all available videos are carefully crafted hoaxes? What a fucking retard. Had his retarded offensive thread merged mercifully with the other D3 thread, and went on several sites to say that the mods deleted and hid his thread.

Laugh at his expense, he is sick in the head.

I remember all the "GW1 will be the end of wow because it has no sub" from the official forums years ago.

Now considering I quit playing a few months ago I might actually think GW2 might be the new thing because people might be tired of paying a sub for once a year content patches.

GW1 was a different type of game, it wasnt a MMO so it didnt have the same appeal for the average WoW player

now GW2 is a fully fledged MMO, so it can compete on even terms with WoW for the playerbase.

While I do like some of the stuff they're packing into the CE, after playing the beta, I'll be passing on this. The gameplay just doesn't deserve the Diablo name, imo. *shrug*

I'm interested in the story, of course, but I can get that from watching someone stream it on Twitch...

@Scratches Diablo 3 has lost a great player here. Someone willing to watch someone else play through a game to see what the story is on Twitch. You are the type of person I envy.

@Scratches Guys I played the 1/3 of Act 1 (the tutorial to the game) in a beta and I have judged it as not being a good game.

78 Dollars for a gutted game that ships with half the content it was supposed to have?

@eLdritchZ ??? Removal of PvP = gutted game? PvP was never the focus of ANY Diablo game. And it was never the focus of THIS Diablo game as stated by the developers. They're adding it in a patch. Better that than release some bullshit PvP like what SWTOR has. So removal of a tertiary feature that will be added in a patch later on? Not gutted. The meat of the game (the incredibly fluid combat, dungeon crawling, loot search, hardcore mode, ~25 active skills with 7 rune variants for each skill, for each class, everything that makes Diablo Diablo) is still very much there.

@pskfry PvP isnt the only thing slashed to make time. I seem to remember a good deal of features cut, simplified or rolled into others to "simplify" them. While some of these moves may have been legitimate, they really were contributing little, there as a time when every D3 article was news about more things being taken out.

@Daeths "I seem to remember" eh, care to enlighten us with specifics?

For as much vitriol and mountains of internet hate sent towards D3, I've seen maybe 4 valid points against D3, and mythical "gutted" features isn't one of them.

1) After 10 years of dev, is this really enough "new" to justify the time?
2) Will the game be challenging enough for vets and easy enough for newcomers.
3) Will the RMAH be a bust or turn into one of those features like matchmaking, which although maligned by many as destroying "community", is basically a requirement in any new game released.
4) Will the game have the longevity and quality to compete against the currently packed marketplace of games which includes WoW, SWToR, Torchlight 2, GW2, and many more AAA games competing for our dollars.

Going to be a busy summer. TERA in May along with D3. I wouldn't be surprised if GW2 doesn't launch about the same time. We will find out a date in early april when pre-orders and pre-purchases will be available from the official site. Coincidence that Blizzard announces D3 release date now? Fat chance.
