Very impressed so far, people need to try it out. Amazing graphics, game play is very fun and involving. They will also offer game time for in game currency like EVE.

@Sickness

I tried it out. It looks like a shiny MMO created by Perfect World. I guess they had the same artists? Not really my type of game. Couldn't force myself to grind past 5 so my input is limited. Only negative I think I see is...too many free games out these days. And I don't think it does a lot to elevate itself to justify a sub. I'm sure many will pay and enjoy it though. Its pretty.

@Yellowdancer You couldn't "force" yourself to "grind" past 5? LOL

That's like... half an hour and a few quests. What "grind" are you talking about? You can't spend half an hour with ANY mmo and have any idea what you're talking about. This is definitely the most pointless comment I've seen on this site in a LONG time. Wow.

Level 5 is like 15 minutes, not half an hour :P

But yes, getting to level 5 and calling a game like TERA a "grind" based on that type of "experience" is extremely laughable. To say their input is "limited" is a gross understatement - it's miniscule and illegitimate.

The game's fantastic and I can't wait for head start. No single game is for everyone, as much as the GW2 fanclub would have you believe it to be so. Everyone thinks every AAA title is the next big thing that will kill all things before it, but the market just doesn't work that way, and neither do its human consumers.

This game has more positives in my book than any MMO possibly ever and definitely since vanilla WoW. The quality with which things are not only rendered but coded and designed is of an excellent caliber, and I think while it's not necessarily going to make any other games go extinct, it's going to surprise people when it comes out, and it's going to be a bigger contender than many had previously anticipated. The great thing about idealists is that they often forget they were crusading against something when it is enjoyable, and no doomsaying can thwart world of mouth once it begins depicting a generally solid, fun experience. TERA has this.

I would say about 15 minutes is right. Then I tried a second character to about the same level. 30 minutes in the game and I'm 100% sure there is nothing there for me.

@NeverDeath Agreed.

Considering that you can't leave the training wheels zone till level 11, if someone claims not to be able to get past 5, then they haven't actually played the game.

In fact, I'd contend that you haven't really played the game until you start questing in Celestial Hills and mobs actually start becoming difficult and using good AI.

Actually on that note, when was the last time any of you were playing an MMO and had the mobs actually use flanking strategies against you?

Whatever this game turns out to be in the long run, color me impressed by what I've seen so far in just 21 levels.

I'm not really fond of the look of the game and seriously WTF is up with those oversized weapons? I'll have to take a pass on this.

@Scarecrowe You might as well say, "wtf with those fireballs and lightling bolts coming out of a wizards hand" If you're going to be saying that about weapons in a fantasy game.

The game is good looking but that's about all I have to say about it's positives. It feels more like a F2P game more than a sub game. the crafting is SUPER expensive at low levels and very bland, same mobs different levels over and over. very grindy leveling and not much of a story to go along with it. After getting to 21 on my archer, which was very boring to play, I really didn't wanna go and level another character. I was already burnt out and was only level 21 lol. The first dungeon is a bore, combat is real clunky feeling. I would definitely try this out via free beta keys before puchasing this game.

Combat is clunky feeling? LOL, in what way? The animation is terrific and smooth, the combo systems with unlocking skills and the emphasis on reflex, premeditation and positioning are engaging and feel natural and adeptly executed. I'm wondering at this point if you even played the beta, until you can start defining some of the generic claims you've made. Not that it makes your preference any more or less correct for anyone else, but because a lot of people like to present this fallacy where they pretend their opinions are based on some kind of education or experience when further scrutiny shows this assertion to be false.

Also at level 21, you are fighting about a 8-10 enemy types you weren't fighting 5 levels previous, yet another thing you've said that makes no sense. Can I please get some kind of clue as to what MMORPG doesn't reuse some models?

@(Unverified) Action + open world, not many MMOs are doing that.

Anyways you can email EME and ask for a refund. They're pretty good with customer service.

@(Unverified) Your problem is you only played to level 21. After that, the enemies get difficult. You actually have to dodge and not take damage. A lot of mobs in the higher levels can one-shot you as an Archer.

You said combat as an Archer was boring? Are you shitting me? I played an Archer, they have knockbacks, knockdowns, attacks that blast you away from the target and effect your positioning. I guess you prefer left clicking on mobs then pressing 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 as the enemy just wacks away at you. This game makes it so you're not supposed to get hit, and if you do, it punishes you. You probably didn't engage in any PvP either as you didn't comment on that at all. That's the best aspect of TERA - the PvP.

Whatever, you're probably one of the slobbering trolls in general filling up my ignore list. Good riddance. I hope the game has a small and dedicated player base that forms a solid community, but is large enough to keep the game on a subscription basis to keep out the vermin. That way EME doesn't have to cater to every slob on the planet and focus on what the game does best - hardcore PvP. They should add lootable player corpses IMO. Not looting the equipped items but looting the gold/consumables the player had on them when they died.

This game is awesome and I can't wait for the next CBT.

@NeverDeath The combat is great on the priest. I love how the range on the jump back is the same as the range on my AE ring heal. It makes a fluid combo when working with the tank who is peeling me, as I can always know my heal will land right where I was when I escaped melee, and looks cool as hell.

@pskfry They also have a neat feature where you can arrange for guild vs. guild warfare and make bets on the outcome.

My RP guild is already coming up with some neat player-created scenarios to use for this feature!
