@Adeptus Enginus

Strange, I remember it differently but maybe it was all the damn Bright Wizards killing us through floors :) As for WoW I played at launch for 3 months or so on Elune and destro was seriously outnumbered in a big way.

@chum As already mentioned, that was by and large due to aesthetics. Most people thought the Horde avatars looked patently ridiculous. The only places you saw Horde with an equal or even greater population were on PvP servers. But on almost every other server, Alliance had the higher population.

Then TBC came out and added blood elves and paladins to the horde and the rest, as they say, was history.

@Borick

From what I gathered, LotR had most to do with it. There's a reason back in the day that we old horde players would joke that the alliance was full of Night Elf Hunters named Legolas.

Funny note, on my RPPVP server the day after BC came out, I found the corpse of a Blood Elf Hunter named XxLegolasxX sitting outside the starting zone.

"IT BEGINS..."

" I would go so far as to say that I don't think I've ever seen any game with an update that is this epic in scope."

I have. In Lotro, FFXI, Rift. Heck, lotro's latest Great River patch has a TON of stuff in it and is quite epic. These guys need to play more MMORPGs.

I'll try the game again come 1.2, but due to how boring combat is and enemy AI at level 1 is the same for every mob through to 50, yeah this game's core "fun" is NOT "fun". Not worth a sub at all.

Should have went "ballz to the wall" back in 2006. Too little too late now.

I agree with a lot of folks have said; this should have been the release client. My guild has easily lost half of our numbers since launch. Around Xmas time we maxed out at around 100 players online at once during peak, now we're lucky to hit 20-30. And there server has taken a hit as well, whereas we had a queue we're now light, so finding groups for a FP is impossible, so not only am I skipping FPs because I can't find anyone to group with, but I'm also skipping Heroic 4 missions for the same reason.

They can pat themselves on the back all they want, but they made a big mistake in not releasing core features at launch.

@Triskelion If everything in 1.2 had been in at launch, the complains would have been that guilds didn't level, you still couldn't macro, there were only three Operations so there wasn't enough content... The same locusts would have blitzed to the end, maybe taking 3.7 days instead of 3.4, and then had exactly the same complaints.

Seriously - which of these features is truly so game-breaking in its absence that having it for the last two months would have made all the difference? One more Operation? A fourth Warzone? Guild Banks? Being able to make a Sith Jedi would have kept your guild in the game? Playing through an alternate class for the story and different gameplay didn't appeal to them, but being able to do it with a different color skin would have?

Don't get me wrong - I'm looking forward to most of this. But "It would have been different if all this had been there at launch" is a great way to bash EA, but I have a really hard time seeing it actually make a difference.

This game was totally rushed and every time they do a patch they fix one or two things and break many other things.

The lag is a major issue and I never see information on that.

Bioware FIX the game first before you add new content make it stable so when I do a flashpoint my party doesn't DC on me or I don't randomly get kicked out of the game.

Having epic fun in an epic game that just keeps getting more, well... ...Epic. lol.

Let the haters rave and foam at the mouth all they want, for me, this is the most fun I have had in a MMO since my first MMO and thats saying somthing. I never thought i would recapture that feeling and SWTOR has done it for me. Keep up the good work!

Is it just me or did all of this basically sound like we are going to force you into groups of people you are probably going to hate just like wow.

I'm not hating I'm just saying

I really wish they would give those of us that don't want to deal with the lord of the flies mentality a viable endgame.

On the serious side, pvp is ate the hell up in swtor, there should have been massive rollbacks as a company with balls took control and fixed mistakes.....this did not happen, instead the clowns in charge simply stood by as the trainwreck that is TOR went on down that decline.

I have logged into vor, the server is dead, i decided to check during peak and off peak time as when i logged in during peak time the 30 folks in main were creating so much lag......ok, ok, (laugh) i jest, but there were only 30 folks and 5 during offpeak at one point briefly, amazing. checking other areas out i found the others as barren as main although more populated, 40 or so in many areas during peak, none in some areas during peak and off peak. illum had a whopping 2 of us. this is empire side numbers.

Not hating, got about 116 or so days left on my cancelled 6 month sub, maybe the devs can pull this out of the nosedive it is in, most likely not.

Hope the repubs are taking up the slack in the 1.7 mill sub numbers..........

Better gtn interface cross server pve/pvp with decent tools for both, in game character appearance editing of some kind.

I never tried to love a game as much as I did swtor Trion showed the world how to release a game and constantly maintain and add to it.

Having seen that bioware evidently decided to go the opposite direction with 3 patches once a fortnight not fixing a problem (and each patch setting out only to adjust that problem) it's almost like a parody of trion.

I really enjoy the game, there are 2 major things that affected my guild however:

1. Lack of raiding content - my guild have been raiders in games as far back as 1999 & while wew had 1 or 2 players that bum-rushed their way to 50, they had to sit tight & wait for the majority of the guild who did not go on crazy levelling sprees, with that said once we had completed the operations there was little else to do for them, most were not PvP fans, & dailies ad-nauseum for 6 days of the week just killed the game for them, bear in mind that once geared in raid gear, flashpoints become largely irrelevant, 90% of these players pick 1 class & are not interested in creating a army of alts, or if they do it's only on one or 2 days a week.

2. Bugs in raid content, these caused a huge amount of frustration, so much so that several players quit rather than repeatedly play broken events hoping the RNG gods smiled on us & we got through an event unfettered by broken mechanics, I think the Operations were badly tested if tested at all, it felt like playing though alpha versions of content.

My guild is now all but dead, from 40 players we are reduced to 2-4 raiding is the glue that holds them together & the lack of it & any other high-end content that was meaningful to raid-geared players basically destroyed our guild, they have almost all left to go back to older games.

1-49 is very good, but guilds each favour certain kinds of content, BioWare totally forgot the raider section of the community & went for a crowd of players I call "alt-aholics", for me I'm an alt-aholic & I do still really enjoy the game, but I miss my buddies.

How is this patch the the most epic in scope of any mmo made in the past 10 years?

Has anyone on this team every made or played an MMO before because from most of their statements I would say no.

I played my free month of this and I have to say it was a pretty boring MMO. I couldn't stomach anything past level 30. I can't speak for anything past taht but I can't imagine it's all that great. I'd rather play WoW if I am going to play a quest on rails, insta-gratification MMO.

For me like any game I enjoy mmos for what they are . None of them have ever been as bad or good as many people would have you believe . I'm enjoying ToR as a mix of Mass Effect style rpg with mmo elements in it . Its not perfect or what I was hoping for but I'm enjoying it for what it is . ToR seems to be developing a mature and friendly community . It may not be something I'd want to play every month but I can see myself returning every other month untill something like vanilla wow comes along and really captures my interest . I think thats unlikly to happen for a long time . So untill it does alternating between ToR and Rift and a side helping of whatever f2play game appeals is fine by me .
