BioWare has invited the masses in to try its Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO free of charge this weekend. Beginning on Thursday, March 15th, TOR's first Weekend Pass Free Trial will allow newbies who lack a previously active account to jump into the story-heavy online title, and the best part is that there's no payment method required.
The trial includes all eight classes, their starter planets and faction capitals, and PvP warzones and low-level flashpoints. The event kicks off at 1:01 a.m. EDT on Thursday, and it wraps up at 3:00 a.m. EDT on Monday, March 19th.

Sorry bub but I only played Swtor for 2 months and even i can tell you, there's censorship going on hard on their forums.
Anyone that's even been following swtor loosely the last 6 months can tell they like to censor bad press.

Quite the contrary, every successful MMO does some kind of free trial.
They usually wait longer than this to start free trials, though. Might be that TOR sales have, up to now, followed the common blockbuster pattern - i.e., absurdly high first day sales, strong first week sales, and a sheer drop from then on.
If TOR is exhibiting this kind of sales pattern, given that it's a MMO, EA/Bioware really need to try and break it, rekindling sales. Even if it means starting free trials early.

Exactly. In recent memory, Bioware claimed SWTOR would be "the greatest and most ambitious achievements in video game history," and has not only made some promises to fans, but also guaranteed everything short of the moon and stars to their publisher and investors. Regardless of what you think about this game, some pretty unreasonable and unattainable expectations have been set.
Where were subscription numbers a month and a half ago? Hovering under 2 million. Where are they now? Hovering under 2 million. The main goal here is to assuage investor worries that they are unable to continue the growth road-map put forward. If even a few thousand new subscriptions show up because of this, it is just icing. The real thing to avoid is any more stock fluctuations.

inb4 "SWToR is dying so they need new subscriptions!"
Every MMO should have some form of trial program, seriously.

@edgecrusherO0 honestly, i dont think many will say that, simply because of WoW and their scroll of resurrection program going on.

@(Unverified) WoW lost most of it's subs long before SWTOR launched.

Its not because they are desperate you anti troll police! Its because they need slightly botched numbers to fabricate for their next financial report. They will probably add you and your family to their numbers.
