ArcheAge's fourth Korean closed beta test is officially in the books, and XLGAMES has released a few noteworthy numbers from the three-month event. The test began on December 8th (that's a whopping 95 days ago if you're counting at home) and saw the creation of 173 guilds, the building of 3,400 houses, and the planting of 2,200,000 trees.
Players also bought (and sold) 130,000 livestock, 750,000 pine trees, and 660,000 strawberries, according to Korean news site ThisIsGame. CBT4 featured over 40 patches that introduced several new systems to the ArcheAge client, among them siege warfare, the family system, the pirate system, and aquaculture.
"We deeply appreciate the testers who participated [in] the long test of [an] incomplete game," said XL's Yong-Gon Kim. "Later schedule[s] [will] be announced as soon as we finish reviewing the test." Western fans are hoping these upcoming announcements will include some sort of English-speaking beta but thus far XL has been silent on the matter.

I almost flipped out because I thought you were still quoting him. GUHHH.
I need this game.

@Grumms Don't know if I can find an MMO to fill in the two plus year gap until we even see ArcheAge beta in the west (at best). Hmm, I've been considering giving MMO's a break for awhile I wonder if this would be a good time to stop and return once ArcheAge arrives.

@Bramen actually the odds are pretty good. XL Games invited a good number of western journalists to the beta. I know because I'm one of them (I'm actually the one that took the screenshot at the top of this article :D).
While they didn't tell me their plans for western release, the only reason why they'd invite western writers to see their game would be that they do have plans to release in the west in the future.
Now, English beta soon? I doubt it. But I can definitely see the an English release happening. They have a *very* strong game under their belt and they know it. Even just the visuals are like nothing else currently on the market.

@Unshra
I did. mmorpg-less here since 06/2011.
I am still battling myself if I want or not to try GW2 out of curiosity ,but even if I do I am rather sure that It won't be long-term love.
Apart of that - only AA seems interesting and worth investment especially long-term one.
Not playing mmo's is actually easier than you think, well easier than I thought for sure.

I don't see a Beta soon either at least not before 2 years and my bet is EnMasse might be the lucky winner because their goal is to bring the best Eastern MMO to the West.The timing would be perfect,one year after TERA's launch they start working on AA with XLgames for a year and then launch it on the western market.

Yep, the MMO landscape desperately needs something like this to end the clone years drought.
I'm really hoping when a western publisher is found they can resist dumbing it down for us. That would be a disaster (for me).

I hope that ArcheAge in west will either be P2P or alternatively will have separate pure P2P servers.
Could not stand playing this sandboxy game with cash shops and microtransaction driven :(

@Maseno
Don't mind open pvp. It's ok.
Only major concern is business model for me.
Just want to play without cash shop even if that mean paying 'premium rate subscription' on separate P2P server - if rest of servers would be freemium / f2p or whatever.
Subscription on freemium games / servers does not work for me.Tried that for quite a long time actually (was preety attached to game that changed model to freemium ,but ultimatelly it drove me from game).

This would depend on how it is launched in Korea and I'd place a bet that it will be f2p there with some sort of cash shop, even if only for clothes.
I mean, I could be wrong and a Western publisher could want the model turned into a sub-based one, but I am thinking those odds a re rather long.

My hunch it will be P2P...since I don't think the devs want to have a sandbox where players can buy their way around, even if it's for cosmetics and vanity items. Especially in a world that is immersive as this project. I think they want to remind players of RL as little as possible. "So here's the ticket you paid for, so go and enjoy this world...it's all your'se to discover. But don't forget to come back a renew it next month."
