It really is not a vs. thing.

Both. How long I play them will depend on how good either is.

Why must it be an either or?!

@edgecrusherO0

It doesn't have to be 'either or" but people seem to adore one title and despise all others similar ones for some reason. I would rather games were less seen as better or worse then another game and more in just games I enjoyed or didn't.

@edgecrusherO0 Agreed, though for me it's become a PS3 vs PC thing. Seeing as I don't yet own a PS3 the choice is pretty much made up for me. However I will admit that D5 is one of the many games out there that are causing my to really consider purchasing the console.

Are there really comparable? One is on a console with a lot of graphical limitation and the other is on a PC with few limitation.

That would be like comparing a lamborghini to a Lexus because they are both cars. While they are both similar, both cars are targeting a very different audience.

@silver001
So what you're saying is that graphic quality defines the target audience?

That's not a particularly bright remark even ignoring the fact that almost all MMO target mid-range machines in order to include the largest possible potential user base and thus few MMO's can even stand toe-to-toe with your average console-based games much less demonstrate the full horse power accessible to those willing to but ridiculous sums of money into their PCs.

Just going by the small snippets of gameplay I've seen, Planetside 2 looks more immediately impressive. Dust 514 seems like it has the potential to be much deeper, though, considering that you're interacting with players from an entirely separate game while playing. I think I'm going to vote Dust 514, with the assumption that it's going to get a PC port down the road.

With that said, either will have to be amazing games to pull me away from Tribes Ascend.

@Ehra

I have yet to see how EVE will be more than a generic mission generator for DUST 514.

BTW, Planetside 2 also has a mission Generator. I'm waiting for DUST to show me its worth the bandwidth to DL.

Haven't looked into either game much, to be honest. If EVE just ends up being like what you mentioned then that seems like a pretty big waste, imo.

As far as I know, CCP _planned_ to have a great deal of interaction between the DUST FPS mercenaries and the EVE Corporations. While there no doubt be generic PvE missions I'm sure, the way they were talking the game up was a flexible, persistent worlds being fought over and funded by the corporations.

The experience _sounds_ far richer than just PvP matches. Proof will be in the pudding, of course.

Uhm... Both?

I mean, Planetside 2 is going to be F2P and Dust 514 has rumors of going F2P. So why not?

Comparing a lamborghini to a lexus is a horrible idea just because they are both cars. Both cars have a different audience.

The same applies to planetside 2 and Dust 514.

Didn't even know there was a limit. Yeah, that scales the odds of me going 514

@Raymac Is that accurate? Only 32 v 32 for Dust? If so, well, I can load up any number of games and play matches that big. Having an insignificant impact on a few Eve players doesn't really matter a whole lot to me. I was planning on playing both, but if this is true I'll only be playing Planetside.

@(Unverified) Here I figured most of the interest was in either game was in mechanics, depth, setting, and style rather than how many people you get to shoot or be shot by.

@Raymac @Saerin Planetside 2 has every bit of great mechanics, depth, setting, and style that DUST has, if not more so. And anyone that has played Planetside can tell you that the scale is so much more than simply "how many people you get to shoot".
