"happy to hear that it's something the devs do want to accomplish at some point."
Which should be followed by
"I pointed out that expanding the number of boxes in the inventory grid is an afternoon project for an intern and laughed out loud at the answer"

"In fact, it's here that the horsemen of the south came north to answer the call of Gondor."

Sorry to be one of those nit-picking lore nit-pickers, but they came from the north.

An opinion on the "Landscape soldiers" is that the beginning of the epic was already given inspiration to help players progress, and honestly the restrictions on the soldiers is almost reassuring.

However, the barter wallet is just disgusting. I will not buy that until Turbine lowers the price.
Which they will, as after the initial rush of payments, nobody else will put 1000 TP into that. I'd much rather have 2 quest packs, 3 skirmishes, the Isengard instances, aka actual game content.
Then, there's more cosmetic slots, more character slots, more shared storage, and more other goodies that have higher importance to me.

The wallet is simply trying to squeeze a little more money out of level-capped characters, and it shows. Badly.

@interguy1

The store is balanced for the paying customers (VIP) who have been getting 500TP/Month for years. This wallet upgrade is pretty much useless to any player that doesn't have years dedicated into the game

That's you know, the point.
Turbine shouldn't feel the need to squeeze 1000 more TP out of subscribers, who are already giving them money.

I still have 8500tp, may just spend it on my warg after this update drops, though from what i have seen that would be a waste as i see the freeps beyond bitch and moaning about the creep update, one such note is an unbreakable 5 sec stun....thats going to go over like a lead balloon and the freeps are already compaining, this already compounding the simple renaming of a couple skills to something that makes no sense, except at the table the meeting was held at.

A a cycle of power/nopower that never seems to go away thanks to narrow minded devs like Orion.

To the folks that pve in this game, congratulations on another lifeless expansion to wile away your free time, you truly deserve it.

Soldier on landscape......renaming skills to some really stupid names.....putting in some skills the devs KNOW will result in freeps getting pissed and the skills being taken away.... who, or what is in charge over there at Turbine? Has outsourcing overtaken this company?

"Turbine's stance is that the wallet upgrade is similar to other space upgrades (vault, wardrobe, etc.), and as such, the studio is going to charge for it.

Who else thought this single line was hypocritical? Silly F2P game.

@Graill440 I will say the same thing here, that I say on the lotro forums. If you are truly unhappy with the game then go play something else. I played the beta for Update 6 and found it to be head over heals of the past few updates and even on par story wise with Moria. Also yes the new wallet is nice and yes I will probably buy it. But as a vip you get 500 top a month so 2 months is nothing. If your not vip then I sympathise but Turbine is a corporation and their primary goal is to make a proft. Sorry to say that but its true.

Very well put. And as others have pointed out, the various currencies don't really become an issue until Moria or maybe even Lothlorien. I can only think of a couple currency types that start to accumulate before that: festival items (when one is running) and Wardens in Evendim. Those are easily managed with your standard backpacks and bank vault.

The people who will find the expanded wallet most valuable are those who have gotten quite far in the game. If you're a subscriber by that point, you're getting the 500 free points each month so this is something you can easily get without paying Turbine another dime. If you're not a subscriber by that point, I have no pity for anyone unwilling to fork over $10 to help fund a game that you obviously enjoy.

Besides, if you're truly determined to not pay a penny to Turbine you can still pull it off. You just need to work a bit harder to earn the points in-game.

Truly? You simply just do not get it? Or you are fine with the way things are? (again nothing wrong with that is you like it) Grin.

On that side note on your playing the "beta", many of us have been on the pts and tested a few things, not all as Turbine did not put everything into it, something you should know and should have posted on the pts forum. Couple that with what is going to happen in the moors when this is released and i do not see where you are coming from defending turbine.

As a lifetime subscriber i have no option to quit, it is mandatory that i live in the hell that i chose to pay for (sigh, i hope you get the humorous sarcasm and not see your own assumptions in my post. *chuckle*)

Yes truly. I defend turbine because most people do not have the basic understanding that they are here to make a profit. I agree that the wallet is a but pricy but as soon as I tried it in the beta I was like oh wow I have to get this in game and open up some vault space.

Also what do you think is going to happen in the moors. First of LOTR is not designed for PvP and no side is ever happy either the freeps or creeps have been crying since (from what I hear) day 1. Turbine is constantly trying to balance things out alas not well but they are at least trying.

Also the new updates to the moors I think are great. Gone are the ten second dps race fights (at least when everyone gets geared up) and the fights become interesting. also I think commondations are great. The moors are for PvMP but have become a PvE zone and commondations looks to fix that.

I have two opinions on the wallet:

1.) It clearly has gotten Turbine to reconsider all of its bind to character policies on barter items. This is the single biggest push to undo that for barter items the game has ever seen. That's generally good, although I'm not sure if they're bound-to-account automatically or if that only happens once I buy this wallet?

If the the former? Awesome, I can just use shared storage for my major barter items. If it's the latter? That's crappy.

2.) Did the barter wallet EVER work the way anyone expected? It slowly had items added to it every major update, but then we'd get new items (tokens in Enedwaith, for example) that still went into our inventory yet were somehow bind to character. Why wasn't any of that ever put in the wallet? It worked half-assed at best.

So in that sense I feel like I'm being asked to pay around $10 to have the wallet work the way everyone always expected it to. That does bother me. I think a simple fix would be to just make it free for VIPs. I'm not one, but I'd feel like it was less of a stab otherwise. If nothing else, lower the cost.

As for soliders, they could have been neat... but as they stand they're a novelty at best. Since nothing is being designed around them, I don't really care. They might as well not exist. Hasn't lowered my overall opinion of anything, although I wish they didn't list this as a major feature.

Beyond all of that, the main thing I care about is the new area, epic and quests -- and from what I've read, here and elsewhere, all of that is turning out very well. Sounds like it'll be a shot in the arm after Dunland.

The open-world soldier changes are stupid. A transparent cash-grab, but not even one that is of use. People enjoy their skirmish soldiers, so why not allow them into the world? It's not as if the PvE is particularly challenging to begin with.
