Yes the new Blizzard MMO will be F2P. B2P, F2P, and Freemium will be the new norm after GW2 launches. Most older AAA games are going the route of F2P or Freemium now and seeing 3-400% increase in revenue and 200% + increase in population.

Stop trying to be a harbinger of doom for F2P when it is no where even close to going away. It is actually just picking up steam here in the West.

@Maseno
nope, the new Blizzard GAME will be F2P. its the DOTA moba, and last I checked mobas arent MMOs, no persistent world, closed instances of fixed low amount of players...etc

Blizzard's TITAN will be P2P, you can be sure of that.

@Maseno It will be A norm, not THE norm.

Freemium models will just not be fringe anymore.

if they gave a s**t about anything other than money, you wouldn't be hearing bout this 2 weeks before it closes. It's disgraceful, and a good example of why crappy f2p games and the bad companies that produce them should be avoided at all costs. There ARE good f2p games, but they are few and far between. They knew this was coming, but they still let people buy stuff on the market for characters they KNEW were going to be deleted along with the entire world they live in in just few days. As "compensation" they make everything 1% of regular price ..that's so you can spend whatever market currency you may have accrued up to this point. It's terrible business, and depending on the details, possibly actionable. Not that anyone is gonna sue for 15 bucks ..which is exactly what they are counting on. Scumbag move from a scumbag company, plain and simple... and trust me, it wont be the last time we see this same article written, just with different game and company names in between all the other words.

Now you see why I stay away from gPotato. After trying several of their products, I found absolutely no games really "gripping", anything that really struck me as enjoyable. Aika was alright, Allods was pay to win trash that punished you exclusively for not buying cash shop items, right out the gate at Level 20, and the rest of their games never even hit my radar. Heck, I read up on some of their games: Luna Plus is going to trash too, and their new game Sevencore looks like nothing special.

Overall, GPotato IS one of those terrible companies you want nothing to do with. There are a lot of those. Yet if you're a dev that actively listens to your community, you will still get roared at, and drowned by complaints from people who want their class/character to be the greatest one shotting fiend ever, or who hates a certain classes because it naturally wrecks theirs. I do feel bad for some of those devs.

... GPotato is not one of them.

This game had a neat concept, but the game play was piss poor.

@Maseno

Took the words right outta my mouth.
I liked the concept of humanoid "pets" (as weird as that sounds), but the rest of the game felt very lackluster.
I'm surprised this title lasted as long as it did, really...

I had wanted to try this, but not now. Oh well, back to the very good F2P DCUO till GW2 releases.

I think that a lot of F2P games are just realizing that they can't just make a rehash of the same thing with a few different features added and get away with it. This is due to the gamers that are paying for all these rehashes and if the companies are getting money, then they don't really care. Hopefully companies will start to be smarter about what they publish in the future. It always pains me to see another game just get shelved.

A game about the worst drivers on the planet wasn't a good concept to begin with. :)

I know it makes sense as far as their incomes go. What I meant by my post was it just seems like a stupid idea. I would never spend a penny on a game that was literally days away from shutting down forever.

Just my 2 cents (pun severely intended.)

Apparently a game that let you run around with your own fairy toddler wasn't interesting enough to make money...big surprise, when will they stop trying to sell western audiences these games where males look like they are performers in a Japanese pop boy band and everyone has to have an over the top cute sidekick /pet ?

Another shitty generic f2p game gets shut down. Seriously, this is going to happen to these low budget games more and more often. When you have a generic, samesy MMO with no budget behind it you get a terrible game. I played it for about 3 weeks or so (forcing myself to stay that long) and it was pretty bad. Honestly not surprised at all that it's closing down.
