World of Tanks takes aim at southeast Asia

Wargaming.net might want to think seriously about changing its name to Worldgaming.net. The studio behind World of Warplanes announced today that it's bringing its World of Tanks MMO to southeast Asia. Wargaming has formed a partnership with SEA Gaming that will bring the World War II action title to gamers in Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand.

This isn't a simple port of the European or American client, either, as Wargaming.net says gamers in the region can expect full localization, a Singapore-based server group, and dedicated support services.

Online gaming in southeast Asia features an estimated 100 million players, who will generate nearly $1 billion in sales by 2015, according to market analysts at Niko Partners.

What you did there, I see it.

Oh come on. The only real slight against the game is that you need a premium account to drive higher tier tanks without losing credits. Though technically you could just drive a lower tier tank to make credits back. God forbid you work for it or have to pay. Premium shells aren't worth what you get and premium tanks aren't the almighty killing machines they're made out to be.

Ya most of the whining is done by the same guys who troll this game at every opportunity. I have issues with the game too, but it is not pay-to-win. In a game like this maneuver,tank selection, and team makeup are the critical parameters that decide a win. The Type 59 tank should be moved to Tier 9 like the T-54 though. At tier-8 it gets to fight too many tanks in lower tiers that can't do anything to it, but that is more of a matter of matchmaking than pay-to-win.

With they'd make a South American server and get all those annoying Brazzies off the NA.
