@darkogele Millions of people playing Aion, really? In the North America last checked Aion had less than 200k subs. I don't see the f2p transition making it any less grindy, so why would it have millions of subs. The game was awful to begin with. Rift is by far one of the best mmos of the last 5 years. Also, the good thing about GW2, is since it is buy the box and free to play, you can still sub to Rift at the same time. Get your endgame on in one game and your personal story in another.

wow...they make me tired! I don't think there is or has ever been a game developer who has worked so hard to keep content flowing. Trion deserves the success they have.

Seeing all these videos of Rift reeeeaaaaaaally make me want to resub. But I'm just afraid that I'm too far behind (still haven't killed GS, but killed all the bosses prior).

@darzin

I agree. I'm playing Aion right now and there aren't that many players in it right now even with this reactivation event. Looking back, Rift was and is still one of the best MMOs I've ever played, and it makes me wonder why I'm in Aion right now instead of Rift.

I've played every single AA MMO since Ultima Online (including SWTOR) and I believe Rift is most advanced game engine and most professional MMO team at the moment. New festival mounts are simply amazing (*it's free week for old players right now*).

If only this game had meaningful open world PvP content like castle sieges...

@darkogele Aion has what 4 NA servers left?

Ya. That's the sound of you introducing yourself to some STFU.

Everytime I try a new MMO I ask myself why I'm not playing RIFT. It's been fun everytime I play it. LucasArts should purchase TRION and put them in charge of SWTOR imo!

"LucasArts should purchase TRION": the scariest idea I've read for a while.

Let me reformulate it properly: you could wish TRION had had 200 million dollars, and didn't waste them with *cough* voice-overs forcing you into answering "yes" "don't care" "no" *cough*, and remained independent.
I'm enjoying RIFT now but my only gripe with TRION is they went for common races and the fantasy setting felt too familiar. Else it's a cute, polished, entertaining, generous (I very seldomly felt frustration) with fun dynamic content, and a cheap subscription without store. I hope GW2 doesn't hurt them too much and they can continue what they are doing.

@Titula New races are one of the biggest things I want out of the game.

@fallwind

I am hoping for new and different races as well in the near future, either joining both sides or forming a possible third faction.

I only have one clue that a third faction may happen: It is only one line that hints it and while I mention it, I am not really expecting it, but you never know...

Why do people make posts that read like a text message? If you don't feel like spelling the words out then take that as a sign you don't need to post. Reading these posts I hope English is no better than your third language.

The more comments I read about Rift the more I want to get back to it. Do you guys have a recommendation for a PVE server?

So I went looking for a game to fill the spaces between Tera betas. SWTOR was a fine game, good story, average on features. But what killed it for me was not being able to find groups for the mid level flashpoints or heroic quests. Too many friends have quit, too many people doing their own thing and not bothering with group content. Heart breaking.

So I went to see what was going on in Aion. The coming updates look great. Most of the harsh edge of grinding has been dulled down since the game was released. It really is a very good game but then I have always liked the way it looked and didn't mind some grind. But again. Get one of my alts to 25, get into the abyss and go looking for an NTC group. Two primetime nights and not only could I not find a group as a healer but I never even saw any body mention NTC in LFG or saw anything in the LFG interface. Nothing, for two busy nights. And this during the free reactivation period. I am sorry but if there is not enough people playing a game to be able to form groups within a few days time then something is very wrong.

So I went back to Rift to check out the carnival. Very fun, lots to do and so far I have been finding groups. Maybe that will die out when the crowds settle but so far, it feels like an actual MMO.

@VikingGamer

I have no problems finding groups in SWTOR for heroic quests, but I play at peak hours on a populated server. Mid level flashpoints are +/-.

As I've posted before, these guys at Trion seem great. They really deserve any success that comes their way. They must have adrenaline pumped through the air filters. They know the MMO business is competitive, and will absolutely not let themselves fall by the wayside and be forgotten. A lot of other companies could learn from them.

Now, if they could just release news of an expansion, and throw in a few new, awesome races, they'd be truly unstoppable.

I need more coffee...

I heard Gershowitz say "1.8 is about Infernal Dong"

and "...that is where Malforge is trapped. Players well get a chance to assault the Wonton (hussy)."

;P
