I can't wait to give this game a try. Every new piece of information that sneaks out makes me want to play it that much more.

@Oskiee

I agree. I think it actually looks better than the atlas and the atlas looks freaking amazing.

I'm excited about the progressing timeline... 3050/51 was when the shit really hit the fan with the Clan Invasion.

3049? Ugh. The Clan invasion begins in August, in that case. I just lost any interest I may have had in MWO. 3025/3026 is the best time period.

@The Ogre

They will keep my interest as long as they stay at, or below, 3058. Once FASA started introducing every possible combination of weapons upgrades (Streak LRMS, ER Pulse Lasers, Heavy/Light Gauss Rifles), the game became a goofy mess.

Lol. I love when battlech/mechwarrior fans bitch about anything that isn't 3025. There's almost not variety in that time period and its house vs house with the same ole mechs. 3050 is when the battletech story and technology start to bloom. What's the problem with that? You guys just like your easy level 1 rules :-P

@EvilCartographer

Everything done past 3050 seems to be an effort by game designers to undoing the mess that the Clans created in tournament play. Even with the upgrades to 3058 it was still lopsided, the 3067 finally introduced the equalizers; iC3., fusion engines, heavy PPC and Heavy Gauss.

If you stagnate a game at the introduction of Clan versus IS 3050 tech, it just devolves into whining, Clanners claim they're being gimped by having less people or available battle value; IS gets frustrated about losing all of the time.

But I do see where you're coming from, some of the tier 3 tech is bordering on absurd; stealth armor, enhanced jump jets, etc are outright abominations.

Assuming the game will allow player clans... get ready to fight a wall of hypermunch Kingfishers; every single battle.

Your statements are pretty much spot-on, so I'm not about to argue with them. That was always my understanding, too, that every post-3050 tech manual was done to re-balance the game. Though, theoretically, if people obeyed the battle values and the Clan honor rules, it shouldn't have been that much of a mismatch.

I don't mind the addition of some IS tech to level the playing field, and the examples you gave a great ones. The iC3, improved NARC beacons, and some of the weapon upgrades would be palatable.

My biggest problem with the post-3050 manuals was not that the IS was catching up to the Clans, but that the Clans seemed to be going backwards. Sure, the introduction of the second-line mechs is understandable, but I always found it difficult to believe that the dozen omni's that were featured in the invasion were the best that Clan-tech had to offer.

What really put me over the edge, though, were the protomechs. I hate them. I hate that they were written up as the next big Clan "thing". They look like a dumping ground for all the worst mechanics, designs, and art in the game.

Really jazzed about this game one of my big worries is the mechs in those screen-shots have zero sense of scale meaning they don't look like giant machines......that is one thing that Mechwarrior 3 nailed; but I will also say that those textures and enviroments do look awesome.

I have been such a huge fan of the Mechwarrior series for a long time. I'm glad to see a company taking such care in not only creating the game, but the new look of the game. My one wish for MWO is that someday it's more than PvP. Clan Invasion battles would be great raids!

"Unfortunately, it's going to be hard to categorize MWO as "massively," as its non-persistent arena maps will host up to only 24 players in 12v12 fights."

I'm not sure how this makes MW:O any less of an MMO than WoT. At least in this game we also get a dynamic map of the Inner Sphere and our "tiny battles" have inputs toward territory control over a persistent "world".

(yes, I know World of Tanks also has territory control, but you have to be a member of a guild/clan to take part in that)
