The Daily Grind: What's the most epic battle in which you've ever fought?

Kirin on FFXI. Loved the epicness of that battle. I do really miss that game sometimes. Maybe it's just the nostalgia-colored glasses.

Mine was in WoW, receiving Realm First! Death's Demise title by Participated in the realm first defeat of Yogg-Saron without the assistance of any Keepers in 25-player mode.

My first AV in WoW. Invite popping up... and some 30 hours later we were done. I hope GW2s WvWvW feels something like that! I liked those AV zergs.

This happened a long time ago, back in old-time EQ days. I wish I could recall the name of the encounter -- a scripted event where the Giants of Vellious attack the dwarven city there. It seemed like there were hundreds of us helping to defend the Dwarven outpost -- it was a huge battle, that stretched over such a wide area that it was hard to tell exactly what was happening, whether we were winning or losing, etc. But it was incredibly fun and the battle seemed to go on forever. In the end, I had ot log out to get some sleep, but it was a battle of such epic proportions that I'll never forget it (Despite not actually even being able to recall the name of the city I was helping to defend).

My many nights of Planetside.

Eve Online blows this out of the water, been in fights many times with 2-3 thousand players in the same system. Going to these huge fights never gets old, its just epic.

There were so many epic moments in DAoC. The one I remember the most occurred shortly after I bought the game. I was a low level Healer in Midgard and I had popped into a small town to sell vendor trash and regroup when a huge scripted invasion occurred. I was too low level to fight but I could heal. I started frantically healing the higher level players. It seemed to go on forever. When it was all done and the adreniline wore off, I knew I was hooked. That's still my all time favorite mmo.

Warhammer - having a warband of around 60 people running from RvR zone to RvR zone taking Keeps while an opposing warband worked on the zones we weren't currently taking. Eventually we met up on the battlefield and had it out.

It felt like true conquest and war.

Hillsbrad battles in the early days of WoW. It was a neverending massacre with tons of people and corpses. I had great fun there.

Also I was a part of huge battle in EVE online, with titans and hundreds of pilots both side. But it wasnt nearly as fun as Hillsbrad wars

Similar to Angel Rage, Warhammer played host to my (and my friend's) most epic battle. We were likely only in Tier 2 (so the halfway point in levels) and on the side of Order, as a Sword-master and Warrior Priest. Roaming around the human zone, we found ourselves in what ended up being a desperate defense of a keep. Our numbers? Pitiful. The enemy? Seemingly endless. But despite being pushed back into the keep lord's room in just minutes - we bottled necked at the ramp up and held there for what must have been hours. Tossing out heals like a mad-man, while my friend stood staunch in the middle of the ramp knocking enemies back. We never fell as the player corpses pilled up higher and higher around us (really just him, while I hid in the background with my book). It was just a handful of us staving off literally dozens and dozens of players, until they eventually had their fill and started to give up. We broke their assault, patched up our gate and stood victorious for the day.

Was like our own little Battle of Thermopylae.
