Little things can make a big difference. That's the topic of the newest EVE Online developer blog by CCP karkur, which covers all of the little changes coming to the game's UI with the next point release. None of the updates is a matter of life or death, but each little change is meant to help improve the quality of life for players in little ways, leading to a better overall experience in the game. And who doesn't want that?
Among the more immediate changes are several additions to quickbar functionality as well as proper menus for the quickbar. There's also a revised blueprint folder, the ability to see at a glance what market stops are along your plotted route, a character display as you type an in-game mail... you get the idea. These aren't tools that will make it easier to undercut other players or blow up opposing ships; these are tools that make each step along that path just a little bit easier. It makes a big difference in the long run.

Nice. Though interface boost instead of new content and functionality doesn't inspire me to reactivate 3 accounts after almost 3 years in the game without new content except for pitiful planetary interactions and stupid monocles.

So this is what? http://community.eveonline.com/en/crucible/features/
"Ratters and mission runners receive a wave of new DED content for Blood Raider, Sansha and Serpentis pirate factions. Over 50 sites have been added, bringing new challenges and an array of new high-end modules that are sure to please those lucky enough to procure them."

While its great that CCP is adding this in for mission runners, its hardly content when you look at the grand scope of the game.
If you consider new missions and such for the pirate factions, or any faction by that matter, to be "new content" for Eve online, you're view of the game is sadly narrow. These missions are essentially the equivalent of Blizzard saying "We added 50 achievements to WoW that you will have finished in about a week." Of course, deadspace loot is always nice, and the only reason people run these things anyways.

I play EVE and I know what I'm talking about. These are not missions, plexes are not the same thing as missions.
I run plexes often but never really did missions. They are completely diferent and adding 50 new sites is a very big thing, especially for those who are are completely bored of always doing the same content.

This is CCP applying the idea that players should be challenged by the game's intended challenges, not the UI.
Now, if just more developers realized this...

@psycros Have you played much of EVE? Piracy is very rarely worthwhile, by any traditional practical standard. They're an interesting facet, but they certainly don't drive the game by any stretch of the imagination.

Another positive step on the long road to recovering from Monoclegate.
