How exactly is Tribes: Ascend an MMO?

@Traptz

I was going to ask the same question.

Surely Massively knows the difference, right? /sigh time to find a new site that isn't fucking retarded.

No..honestly they don't. If you ever saw the beta list they put out or half the games they discuss you would come to the conclusion that they have a very loose grasp on what constitutes an MMO.

For instance, Diablo 3...not an MMO..at all, yet it gets discussed in here every week at least once. They seem to think that any game that has multiplayer with 3 or more people is an MMO?

@Traptz

Just agreed. It is really sad with pushing every single multiplayer game into MMO tag.

Seriously time to find new website.
And new description for mmos / mmorpg's since in a few years all games will be adressed as mmos.

Retarded.

It all depends on the word Massively. How many people does it take for a game to be considered massive?

@Bramen

"A massively multiplayer online game (also called MMO and MMOG) is a multiplayer video game which is capable of supporting hundreds or thousands of players simultaneously."

This means hundreds or thousands of people per server.

sadly at this moment, none...

but I've never been in more than one beta at a given moment or so in time, a *better* question would be:: "Which beta do you wish was installed on your computer right now?"

GuildWars2!!!! LOL

Right now, none.
Across the years, I have installed Beta versions of a few, such as TOR (which served to steer me clear out of that game), DCUO, WoW, and a bunch that I didn't really get to experience.

Tribes Ascend, and another game which I'm not sure I'm at liberty to disclose. So, two, about the average number at any given time for me.

Funny you ask... I just installed Firefall after getting my invite this morning. So that puts me at 2 if you include Tribes. Plus about half a dozen F2P games that I don't pay anything for. But they're all just minor distractions until I get my GW2 invite.

I have two. TERA NA and TERA EU. Gotta get my dose of TERA every weekend. Two weeks of TERA withdrawal would kill me.

I have 3 atm, not including the swotor beta client I still haven't deleted. I check out the f2p asian import betas until they open the cash shop, at which point I usually quit and try something else.

I only have Tera at the moment, for which I can't wait to play some more of. I'm hoping Guild Wars 2 will be next up. :]

None at the moment, although I have tried a few betas. The result has almost always been disappointing. I won't do it again.

I'd rather not play a "rough draft" of a game I'm really interested in (it's too spoilery, imo), and if it's a game I'm only marginally interested in, well, why bother downloading a beta for it?

I don't have anything right now but have applications out for Guild Wars2 and Secret World. I only run one Beta at a time usually.

I would not enter a beta that says 'no char wipe at the end of the beta'. If it is a beta, it shall be used for testing, not as a prelaunch release.
I tested Wakfu for several months, reporting errors and such, but currently there is no beta test game on my machine and I doubt this will change in the foreseeable future. I don't have the time anymore to take this job seriously.

None.

I suspect that's the answer for most people who aren't industry journalists. ;)

Currently none. Formally I had DCUO, EQOA, SWG, FF14, and Rift.

Currently hoping to get into GW2.

TERA, C9 and some that I can't mention. I'm actually surprisingly light on the beta front for once.
