I haven't been hearing the greatest things about the beta... will it really be ready in a month?

@fallwind Probably as ready as it's ever going to be. Most of the things that are wrong with the game are design decisions Blizzard refuses to budge on, so it's not like more time is going to fix that.

ive been playing the beta and i love it. BUT theres just not enough playable content to make proper judgement (roughly 1.30 h content). Blizzard decided to bring the franchise up to date with all the changes they made. Whoever wants a carbon copy of diablo 2 with 3d graphics should play torchlight 2.

Someone asked a dev on twitter about the release date btw and he said he can "neither confirm nor deny".

That's not how you spell Torchlight II.

Well, one is actually playable and last I checked torchlight 2 isn't even close.... So I don't see the need to choose one over the other.

Honestly I have zero interest in the Torchlight series. I played through the first one and while it was a solid and well polished game, It wasn't all that different from Diablo II. The polish and 3d graphics are nice, but if I want to play D2 I will just go play D2. Diablo 3 is getting a lot a flack for making "big" gameplay changes (mostly from people who've yet to even get into beta mind you), but I welcome the changes. Again, if I wanted to play D2, I'd go play D2. D3 needs to be familiar to the series while still providing enough changes to make it it's own game worthy of my time and money.

A better sweeping generalization would be:

D3 is for fans of the Diablo series.
Torchlight is for D2 fans with shiny new computers.

Like that is a fair comparison: "hey guys lets see who sells more: the blockbuster from the multinational company that can hype it to oblivion or the indie devs with limited funding".

Both games will be great and since Torchlight 2 is just going to cost 20 bucks even the most blind Blizzard fanboy can support a small decent company when buying it.

If Diablo 3 comes out before Torchlight 2, you won't hear much about Torchlight 2 except in the Runic forums.

The CeBIt is not a game convention. Its a consumer electronics convention. The main focus is on gadgets and other technical noveltys. Games are just sideshow and to be frank i wonder why blizzard is even there.
