on the note of crafting in lime Odyssey; how the hell do you do it?

I tried my damnedest but the instructions in the game's help menu don't show the same thing I am looking at in game and their is no step by step quest to figure it out?

thwarted by some damned training mitts.

""Wakfu is all the rage right now""... lol wtf? o_O

Yea.. that's why gametrailers, MMOhut, or even massively articles receive next to no real number of responses to posts bout said game.*(voting/comments, ext).

lol, tho.. everyone is entitled to their opinion I guess..

but even the official youtube videos can't break 3-5k views in their opening week.. that's just sad for what YOU call a ""work of genius"".

if the game truly was fun, the masses would continue to play... and not lose interest after the first day or so *(few weeks in some cases).

I can understand how you feel the game is amazing or how it has all this untapped potential.. but take it from a vet, Ankama have no interest in catering to that potential and only want to make another grind simulator *(dofus sequel).

The game is full of time sinks that have no merit, tactics combat that revolves around RCM's *(random chance mechanics) and next to no lore in-game. *(no quests, npcs, ect..).

For anyone interested, check Beau's last article and read the comments or just play the F2P version yourself.. see how long you last. XD

Exactly. Play the game yourself. That's all I ever ask.

I'm not sure where your comparisons for numbers are coming from, but trust me, the game is doing just fine. Ankama was able to partner with Square simply because of their successes, not because of their failures.

lol, that's a bit one sided isn't it?
Due to lack of competition, Dofus/Wakfu *(Ankama) ~ pretty much have that niche cornered.. and if you look at all the games SE have been "backing" lately, you'll see it's NOT because of their success.

What I'm seeing is SE struggling to find a new cash cow, after all the FF issues ~ 12, 13 and 13.5 for console owners and the giant mess that was FFXIV for PC users.

The name Square-Enix doesn't mean what it once did and honestly, it doesn't prove anything to me seeing it on a box/game title screen.

Honestly... IF Wakfu was a smash hit and had a great community backing, it would give SE the numbers to "attempt" to turn FF Tactics into a RTS/MMO ~ like Wakfu/Dofus *(but better).

So it doesn't matter how you look at it, SE only "backed" Ankama for personal reasons, whether just to simply support a bunch of small games *(quantity over quality) or use them to test the market so SE wouldn't have to.

at the end of the day, you can't let a name fool you.. either the game can stand on it's own or it can't.

and thanks to the dev team behind Wakfu.. it's a VERY beautiful, waste of time. *(art > gameplay).

@Everfaust I can see your points, but I am having trouble seeing how you can define the game, Square Enix, or Ankama as anything but a success. Dofus is one of the oldest MMOs around, and still has players. That alone is a success. SE could be doing better, but so could Blizzard, Trion, or any other major, successful publisher. It's a give and take.

And please correct me if I am wrong, but I have a feeling that you have spent quite a while playing Dofus. I often hear from long term vets (the ones who loved the game so much that they spent years enough in it to be called "vets") the harshest criticisms of the titles, as though all of those years of being loyal to the title are now invalid because they no longer enjoy the game.

Maybe other players can get the same years of enjoyment out of the titles as well?

lol, nope... I've never played Dofus :P
I couldn't get past the crappy graphics and how they expected me to pay a sub for what was essentially a browser game.

As for my terminology of "being a vet".
*(I've been beta testing Wakfu on and off since late 2008)

I've explained in your other article why I feel the way I do bout the game and why it WILL fail as soon as a real company via blizzard, trion, ANet or anyone else with a brain shows up.

also, even though Dofus has been around for a while.. it's evident why.. *(BECAUSE there's no competition).

Right now, the only ones gushing over wakfu are those people whom are specifically focusing on the graphics and letting them "color" their view of the overall gameplay/presentation.

Perhaps you should read up on Ankama, they have a bad history with their community.. their subs are made up of people that love tactics but can't find another "fix" for their addiction anywhere else *(stuck in the niche, paying for a bad game).

I have over 50 vids I've made for wakfu over the past year or so, including reviews and fixes suggested by the community to the devs.. if you would like to see them, let me know ~ I've made them private on my youtube channel *(only friends can see).

To be fair to Everfuast, it's pretty evident from his previous writing that he has played Wakfu for a long time, probably longer then you, and so he likely knows it's community and dev team better then you.

However your position sounds more like wishful thinking tbh.
I would agree with you that Wakfu's ascetic is wonderful and the new IP is very interesting and unique. So what?

Good ascetic can make a good game better, but it can't make a bad game good. Tolerable maybe.

In the long run community it the only thing that matters and by the sounds of it, Wakfu isn't doing so hot.
And then there is the complete lack of substance, there is nothing worth doing in this game, all you do is grind your arse off for no real reason.
Ie, it's no different then any other cheap MMO.

In short, it's all flash no bang.
But it's your money, feel free to spend it however you wish.

Me, I'm going to spend it on something worth my time.
Ie: Guild Wars 2.

I did check out your videos, and you turned on the game the moment the payment model was announced. The previous video was just you showing complete ineptness at the Pandawa class. Someone even made a video response to show you how to play it right, and besides they fixed it patches ago.

Keep trolling Wakfu, your crusade against an MMO is surely a great way to spend free time.

" no matter what you think about the payment model (please, no more payment model discussion, please),"

There's a reason for this quote. It's a sub plus pay to win item shop. It's representative of the worst of the slimiest of models and should not be supported. This is ridiculous and needs to stop now.

Send a message, don't play the game.

@Yoh Again, I'm just not sure where that information is coming from. The community is not doing well, based on what? He is also claiming that Dofus had its issues and never played the game.

I have spent my time in the game, as well, for a while. I've written about it and have had my experiences. Me calling it "genius" is an opinion, just like his opinions that are based on what he has gleamed from some forum posts. Remember, according to the video numbers he puts forth there are thousands and thousands of views. I doubt anyone, including myself who has access to such numbers, would have interviewed or taken a poll of those numbers.

We are both guessing. But calling something a failure of claiming that it will fail because there are no other games like it out there is, well, a bit odd.

Let's meet back here in a year and see how it has fared! lol :)

Pretty sure you can engage with the community, basically get involved with your nation. There are islands that can be conquered, and while not the most fleshed out sandbox yet the territorial control is much more meaningful to me than just farming gear that you can use to farm more gear like I don't know... most MMOs?

If that's not your thing, there are plenty of other MMOs, but to spam walls of text on anything remotely related to Wakfu weeks after supposedly quitting; hey if you want to encourage him that's your choice too I guess.

O'rilly... yea, I seen that vid.. possibly because the "person" who made the video response to my pandawa vid was none other then my old guildmaster *(TS).

and I ASKED him to make that vid and link it to mine. :P

lol, it's like you love stating uneducated opinions or something.

Not only that, you didn't even bother to look at the dates on those vids to see just how old they are.. I mean, out of over FIFTY videos.. you pick ONE *(about the pandawa class) that's been steam rolled/revamped 5 ways to sunday since the vid was uploaded to youtube.

*(Just so you can act/insinuate that I'm a clueless troll) ~

*shakes head*

Actually, I doubt you seen the vids anyways.. as they're PRIVATE!
meaning only friends can see them now and you're prolly trying to watch'em through a 3rd party site/cache or something.

lol, so far.. you've only "proven" your own ignorance and overzealous nature to follow/troll me every chance ya get.

~ Keep it classy Mr. Troll :P

Thx for the upvote/support but sadly we're competing with an editor on their own site ~ so, no matter what ya say.. unless it's complete submission to their opinion.. you'll just be down-voted into oblivion *(whitespace).

that and with trolls like the one that keeps following me around, it's much easier to just move on. ~ btw, check your youtube. ^_^

I would at least agree with your last comment, were both just using opinions based on our own experiences, and we really should wait at least 6 months to a year before the final verdict.

However your article should have made that distinction a little clearer, at least until you have some figures to back up your claims.

Personally you know where I stand, I think Wakfu has no future, but it may do ok in this period between major releases.
However once GW2 releases, games like this one will fall by the wayside. Not because GW2 has more money behind it, it does, but because it has far more depth and breath then games built on the old model of MMO could possibly have.
It's going to make social games far more social. And for the price of a box at that.
(which is why I also think sub-model games are going to suffer)

And it's going to take more then cute ascetics to win out against that.
(not to say it can't coincide)

Dude, it's nice you like the game.. but it's also common sense to see it can't compete with a real tactics MMO.

Several die hard community members have pledged to make their own RTS/MMO's in the efforts to put the Ankama dev's in their place.

But none of those projects will be finished anytime within the next year.. so unless something was already in the works.. wakfu will STILL be around in a year ~ struggling.. but still present as I doubt it costs much to maintain such a game.

I myself am currnetly working on an Iphone/Android app, using the Unity3D Gaming Engine ~

While it's direct competition wont be Ankama, I'm still willing ta meet ya back here in a year to compare my Indie project, to their *(Square-Enix backed) success story. >:3

btw ~ I'll also be continuing to upload video tutorials for anyone that wants to learn game design/cg animation ^_^.

lol, then anyone will be able to make an RTS game superior to the dribble Ankama excuses for a game.

Breaking rules?... Drama?.. seriously?

I state my opinion, supported by actual FACTS.. trolls come by and can't come up with any valid counter-arguments other then "wall of text = bad" or to say I'm on a childish tirade.

Yet, I'm the one you have to "talk to" o.O

lol, you guys take this stuff waaay to seriously ~ tell ya what, how bout ya delete this account and all it's posts so the "drama" will stop and everyone will be able ta move on with their lives XD

haha that or just accept the fact, opinions are common place and trolls exist to question/poke the bears.

If people can't handle "detailed" opinions or fail to understand that a wall of text can be written in bout 15 minutes.. then that's not my problem :3

It's fun to have an educated debate.. but with a fanboy rating system to cater to the mods/editors to white out posts, or responses *(finger pointing) like this last one you wrote to me and It makes me think you guys don't care bout anything other then blanket statements and uneducated bias twords games.

as a news site, that's bad dude... lol, you're letting the terrorists win ;P
