Is it just me or does the person making the races in Tera have a very deep Kemonomimi fetish?

Everyone has a kemonomimi fetish.
It's time to come to grips with your inner desires. :P

@Syesta Speak for yourself little girls with fox ears and tails that stand like they have to pee all the time are not fetish worthy unless you are some type of Yiffy Pedobear.

A comment like yours is now making me seriously regret airing out my concerns of the "lolicon'ic" aspect of the Elin design....which I now doubt was the intention of the developers. Afterall, the Elin can't procreate or have no interest in doing so...hense their childlike demeanor. I suspect this is similar for the Popori.

Either way, and admittedly the Elin and their attire are a little creepy...but is that enough to warrent such hostillity to the game? Many are hostile towards Gnomes of WoW for very same reasons...doesn't mean the game isn't any good or the devs are pervs. I am sure pervs will be playing Elin as they do Gnomes. But it's not the reason for playing these games...

...in short (and no pun intended) if you don't like the Elin, don't roll them. If you don't like the game, don't play it. Otherwise, shut-up about it.

@Syesta

...um...interesting observation. O.O

@(Unverified) I love neko-mimi and kitsune-mimi myself, so I'm a little too biased to provide a rational comment. :D

@Utakata About the creepy factor, I had thought that too, but for the lulz, decided to make one in CB2. Actually everything they do is geared toward 'cute', as opposed to sexy/suggestive like the other female racial choices.

Big, heaping, obviously bad for you saccharine levels of cute.

On a side note, what Dunraven is inelegantly referring to is the pigeon-toe stance. With Akihabara being what it is, (goram pervasive) I used to think that this was some kind of genetic mutation, or result of a calcium deficiency.

Then I went to college and met and made friends with some folks from Japan and asked them about it.

It's merely an affectation.

It's meant to be a demure pose, from a time when it was considered rude to point your feet at people, and is one of those funny anachronisms that managed to creep into modern life.

I think this image sums things up nicely. (Note: Use of strong language, so mildly NSFW)

@Cyroselle

Interesting take. And thanks for sharing that.

...although, from what I am reading, I'm not sure Elin are about politeness either....or maybe perhaps to each other. However, I wonder if that stance has taken a different meaning in their culture. As in, I am about to "kick your ass"mode. I know that sounds odd...but referring back to WoW, both Dwarves and Orcs NPC's twinkle their toes before putting the beat down on you...this is both and odd and amusing effect. I wonder if this pingeon toeing is an inanely polite battle stance.

The game is like a Chris Hanson special with big Phallic Swords. Gabe pretty much called it it typical Korean grinder with boring quest. Glad I cancelled my pre-order.

@Dunraven Did we read the same post by Gabe? Wait, we're talking about Gabe at PA right? Because he said he loved it, he just doesn't like PvP so the endgame won't be for him.

Gabe said so, huh? Woah, jeeze I was almost going to love this game. Good thing I found out.

From personal experience - if Tera's grindy then I loves me some grind.
(it's not)

@Brockobama321 Gabe is also a fictional character, and the person upon whom the character is based evidently only played from 1-12 in the beta, not really an in-depth look.

@Deliverator

Exactly this. I don't know how anyone could call this game "grindy". If you want to compare it to another popular Western port of an Asian game - Aion - this game looks like World of Warcraft in comparison. I think Aion scarred a lot of people in a similar way to how Warhammer did, with the expectations so high, there was a long way to fall - and they did. Now every time an eastern game is ported to the US everyone immediately attacks it with this xenophobic zeal that it's going to be the same as the last one.

Skepticism is okay - but if this game is what people consider "grindy" in today's MMO crowd... Haha, well then follow that up with multiple obscenities. This is a AAA title, and it's less grindy than some western-made MMOs. Everything I've experienced in the game so far has been rock-solid both technically and systematically. I'm just glad I don't let other people think for me, or I might miss out on great games with exciting gameplay in order to play it safe in the same boring tab-target cooldown rotation games that we've all been playing for a decade.

@Dunraven I think your filters must be cranked up to allow only bullshit to penetrate. Gabe wrote:

"I played a bunch of Tera"
"I had a great time."
"Tera is the best looking MMO I have ever seen."

And his criticism of the game
"The quests in Tera are horrible even by MMO standards."

He noted that he doesn't get into PVP, but that he's heard that PVP is something TERA does well. Where you get from this that he thought the game was 'pretty much horrible' must be from someplace dark and sunless.
