Show me the FPS MMO that is coming out soon that isn't F2P and I'll show a game I will give money to even if I'm not enjoying it just to make a point to all the F2P ones. I wouldn't touch a f2p FPS with a thousand yard pole.

I don't have a clue as to how the game actually plays, but I can tell that those stiff animations and bland textures would make a terrible movie.

I find the trailer needlessly violent, with one soldier injecting some drug in his neck and headshots and continuous humanoids dropping on the floor.
Without any reason this kind of violence is disturbing to say the least.
Should I feel appealed by this "gameplay"?
And I won't comment about the 3D models and animations...

oh god, I made it!

I don't have much time, I come from a horrible future. We have all been enslaved by Skynet, they destroyed our cities in one swoop! We eat nothing but mushrooms and have to live underground to avoid the sweeps. They look just like us!

You need to stop them! They will attack on....

What? You mean it's just a trailer that looks like it is from 2002? I haven't traveled back in time?

Then why am I naked?

2002 called, they want their generic FPS back...

I would say that trailer was as boring as watching grass grow, but even that's a stretch...

It was more like as exciting as watching wood... be wood.

The first half of the trailer was pretty terrible, but the second half showed some promise. Were they taken from different builds of the game?!

Overall though, it's pretty meh. It would have looked impressive . . . about 8 years ago. Maybe. Plus, two faction PvP = fail.

Why would I play this over Planetside 2? Planetside 2 will have better graphics, better animations (it pretty much has to), and THREE factions to help balance PvP.

I just don't see what "Line of Defense" brings to the table. It looks like a low budget cash-in of the online FPS craze.

I don't know, I kinda liked that last picture with the Quarian standing next to the Geth.

The 2 faction system is an immediate turn-off, really do 3 or more if you insist on locking people in factions. Player dictated factions will always be superior; look at EvE, anyone whose done a roam in which multiple enemy gangs collide can attest to the fun of such chaos. With just 2 factions the game will eventually devolve into a one way beat down.

I think the animations need some work. They reminded me of Claymation.

Here is what they said over at the PC Gamer exclusive release

===
The important thing that Derek wanted this trailer to do, was use actual gameplay mechanics & assets. Some of the drawbacks are visible in some areas e.g. the animations appear a bit sluggish as they try to stay in sync with the targeted frame rate of the video which is different from the game's animation frame rate target. Rest assured, they are way smoother in the game as you will see in the game videos due out next week on the new site.
We're still a small indie (10 people working on LOD) team working very hard as we always have and once the new site (lodmmo.com) goes live next week, you can all sign-up for a chance to play the game and be your own judge. I think that you will be impressed and surprised.
We're also going to be releasing a lot of gameplay videos in the coming weeks as well over on our YouTube channel: 3000ADGAMESCHANNEL

The spinal glowing things...I recall that from....something....Dead Space perhaps? The jeeps look like Halo Warthogs, the mech suit came DIRECTLY from Mech Warrior or anything from the last generation of console gaming in terms of mech suit gameplay...I think the video speaks for itself in terms of poor animation and graphics. I hope the developers are reading these comments. Up your game.

@c0gnit0 I posted this BEFORE I saw the lightsaber. In response to the interview, I know this sounds jaded but actual gameplay this day in age can still process faster with more powerful graphics engines and animations and so forth. You can't say the gameplay framerate didn't stay up to speed in the video as compared to ACTUAL gameplay. 1) Your target should be 60 fps in video at least. The human eye cannot perceive anything more, so without the processes of rendering the game while playing it, that video shouldn't be so "sluggish". While I would HOPE the game plays smoother than the video, I also want to point out that considering the timeframe for PS2 as compared to this one, it's either going to fall under the radar and more than likely slowly die OR will have a cult following that pours money into it. Regardless, I hope to see something a little more impressive.

Is this a joke?

Horrible pre-rendered cutscene using bland in-game assets with abysmal effects that look like they were poorly added in after the video was made. It looks like they hired some college kid to do this as a side project. Abysmal is not nearly a strong enough word to convey how utterly pitiful this trailer is.

However, I did laugh at the 'what is this rocket doing on the ground' scene, and the parachute scene where everyone landed like a stiff action figure.
