This seems like another strange route, like Siege of Mirkwood. Will we skirt the edge of Fangorn to get to the Anduin, or are we going the long way round, back through Moria and Lorien?

Turbine has previously stated that it's the latter option. Basically, they're approaching Rohan from two directions. Rise of Isengard covered the western approach and now with Update 6 they're taking on the route that the Fellowship followed.

Basically, it's all buildup to the Rohan expansion this fall.

@aurickle I can already see the quest text: "Hey, thanks for helping us out here in the Gap of Rohan. If you look east, you can see the plains of Rohan. Cool huh? You're going there. Wait, where are you going? No no no, you're not taking that route. Way too easy. You'll have to go back whence you came, go a few hundred miles north, go back into Moria again (say hello to the dwarves), go through Lothlorien (say hi to Galadriel, rawr) and then follow the Anduin until you reach Rohan from the other side. What's that? Why? Oh, you know. It's because... well... you see... it's like this... huh, what? What's that, dear? Tea's ready? On my way! Okay, gotta go. You'll be alright? Splendid! Don't forget to pack a lunch!"

It's probably going to be more like a letter from Galadriel asking you to return to her because she has an important task for you. Or perhaps Elrond.

If you think back, this is EXACTLY how they handled Enedwaith. We'd been in Eregion, through Moria, Lothlorien and Mirkwood, then suddenly got called back to go south of Eregion into Enedwaith. Yet the story was nothing like the nightmare you're describing and it was done in a way that made perfect sense.

@aurickle My tongue was firmly in cheek. I know they'll find a way to make it fit into the game's story.

If there is one thing that LOTRO has issues with, it is consistently "good" music. These videos show the worst music the game offers. Utterly horrid. But if you ever get the chance to go to the Trollshaws or Lothlorien, it's the complete opposite and fantastic.

@MMOaddict I have no problems with this particular music. Beauty is in the ears of the beholder.

Really? So you think the music in Trollshaws is on par with this and not better? This to me sounds like someone trying to learn how play their brass instrument or just blowing air through it.

Where did you see me write that?

@MMOaddict I have no problem with it either, regardless of comparisons to other zones. I assume they're trying to get some sort of menacing, driving feel from the song and it's effective in that sense. I've played woodwind for half of my life and this doesn't strike me as especially amateur or obnoxious.

There are some tracks I'm not fond of in the game (particularly short ones that loop endlessly -- Bree-town's, for example, isn't a bad theme but it feels like a 10 second loop).

I wrote about the difference and you chose to not acknowledge it. Do you see a difference between the 2 types of music? It's a simple question. If you don't, that's fine, I just feel you don't have much of a musical ear. If you do, than feel free to expound on that.

@MMOaddict I wasn't focused on the difference, I was merely stating I have no problems with the music used in those clips. I don't know whose bed you got out on the wrong side of this morning, but take a chill pill, all right?

And for the record, there's nothing wrong with my musical ear. I'd even go as far as to say it's quite a lot bigger than you think. 35 years of musical training, playing in several bands and composing and recording my own music does that to a person.

I agree with you. I prefer music like that found in the Trollshaws to the music in these video clips. You shouldn't be ranked down for your opinion.

I usually only visit Lotro posts to whine about some cash shop change or another Turbine have thrown at us, but with the conversation going in this direction I have to say that the "Lament for Oakenshield", the "Dwarf Theme" remains possibly my favourite piece of MMO music to this day.

I'm actually excited to see this free-for-VIP region--much more than I was for Enedwaith. It feels like a fresh direction, but at the same time a return to the much-loved roots of the original storyline--following the Fellowship.

It's so great to see regular updates again after so much down time.
I've always been curious about the 'Brown Lands'-I could never figure out what they looked like by looking at the map. It'll be good to see Turbine's take on them.

Nice to see sub's thrown a new zone! And the artists at LotRO remain some of the absolute best. Looks gorgeous.

@jimr9999us on a related note... f2p, and premium players will be able to buy the zone from the turbine store for 5000 turbine points...

in case any of you are the slow types.. that was a bit of sarcasm.
