I was gonna write a long rant were I praised Rift's qualities and the fact that I have an swtor account with 2 months left and only had logged 3 times...
I could continue but I'd rather go play Rift...

Rift continues to impress me, I'm still having a great time playing after a year + beta. The Trion team cares to keep the game interesting and I love that. Happy Birthday to Rift and all my fellow Ascended!

Very smooth launch and decent graphics, sadly the rest failed for me. Pvp exploits that were not rolled back, leveling exploits that were not rolled back (thousands of folks hitting cap in 2 days), things like this the devs were instructed to change, were warned about but they did nothing, until it was to late and they lost a sizeable chink of subs.

Oh, and the healing in the game.....holy freaking batman, i have never seen a game so based on healing in my entire life, not bad for some but in my eyes healing is a very bad crutch that needs to totally go away in MMO's, heal up after the fighting is over or get to use one healing pot in battle, thats everyone.

I cannot stress enough how the healing destroyed this game for me (i am laughing a bit while typing this, some funny encounters in pvp and all.) Non healers have no chance in pvp, requiring you to cookie cut what everyone else uses, not a thing to force folks to do.

Again, cute game, just not my cup o tea, birthday graphics and celebrations looked great. Always did like their art style.

There are many, many things that make Rift stand out from other MMO's, but for me it's the speed at which content is added, the lack of bugs, and the level to which the developers listen to their customer base. I realized I took some of this for granted, which came back to bite me as soon as I left to play another game (seriously...going to TOR and encountering bugs on an hourly basis was just so disappointing). Needless to say, I am back to Rift, and loving every minute of my playtime! I am never bored in this game, which is far more than I can say for any other MMO I've tried so far.

Ok, but when you break it down, Rift isnt very different from other games. Rifts become repetitive and are too easy, there no realy immersive story to speak of. Endgame consists of repetitve content or meaningless PVP. So its fun to explore through one time. But nothing to keep going back to.

It's like any other MMO or computer game after you play it for a while.

I'm having fun with RIFT since I recently re-subbed, but I gotta admit that one of the early reviews still kinda rings true: "it's well done, but this game has no SOUL."

I think their mistake was putting in content that wasn't stereotypical fantasy stuff. For example, there are no orcs in the game. That's odd. Everyone who's played a fantasy game or seen a big-budget fantasy movie has seen orcs as the enemy. This gives the game a bit of the feel like it's one of those Asian MMOs that was ported to the West. It was ported well, but the flavor and content feels...a little like it didn't translate well.

Loot pinatas lol That was good.

It would be nice to see if the MMO market can finally start to truly support more than one major game at a time. It looks like RIFTS could be part of that progression.
