Happy B-Day Rift! Congrats to a game that continually adapts and strives to provide the most end-game multiplayer player content possible! I can't wait to see what's in store with the new 20 man and an expansion announcement has to be coming soon as well.

@Monkey D Luffy

Camping's law: that some nutter will keep making prediction after prediction, always moving the deadline further and further into the future to avoid being "wrong".

"No, I meant NEXT year! Next year will be the rapture, honest this time! You need to give me all your money quick!"

"No, I meant ! Next will crush Rift and make them F2P!"

Seriously, first it was last summer, then last fall, then winter, then TOR, then spring, then this summer, now it's GW2/TSW, next fall, next winter, sometime 2013... maybe 2021.... Pick a date, be wrong, and move on.

@Monkey D Luffy I find it interesting that for such a "failure" of a game, how you admit to want to play it if it becomes F2P ... keep hoping kid!! lol!!! Keep the hope alive!!!! lol!!!!

I really do love this game.
I've been playing almost every AAA titles and lots of F2P, and Rift is by far the most polished game released these past years. and trion just knows how to keep it's players busy with regular world events... FUN world events, not like in WOW where it felt like a hassle to do them (well, at least for me).
But I still don't understand all the hate this game garners from people not even playing it...

Because for some reason, people are weirdly tribal about the games they play and enjoy, and if you don't have their same preferences, then you have bad taste.

I remember the hate and it was during launch it seems. A lot of qq wow clone posts from wow players who ended up running back to play world of stormwind.

Reading this makes me want to hang on to my sub. I'm still not totally loving this game, but I'm only level 26. And I definitely have an appreciation for the game. I think I'll just have to dedicate myself to it once I'm bored with my other games.

@rgolch

I felt the same way as you rgolch. I found the actual levelling experience to be somewhat boring, i could see how polished the game was but i just wasnt that into it.

I can safely say now that im 50 and have been for a few weeks the game really opens up and is much more enjoyable. Like this article has said the game has alot of offer when you get to 50 and the raiding is spot on.

I hope you can stick it out to 50 so you can truly experience how awesome this game really is.

I really enjoy Rift. While I needed to take a break I haven' t stopped my 3 mos. sub plan and definitely will be going back. It's a quality product that runs without major problems and the events add some fun and variety.

Happy Birthday Rift. Glad you're still around stronger than when you started.

This is one of those rare games where the developers earn every penny that I give them.

I love the soul system, the wardrobe with tints, and Rifts target of target features should be the industry standard.

The most fun I ever had in ANY MMO EVER was charging around in a MASSIVE group (with no lag I might add) taking down a zone full of invasion rifts.

Happy Birthday Rift. Great job Trion.

Checked out Rift at open beta time, didn't like it.

Checked it out again a month ago, and it's in fantastic shape. I have levelled a character to cap and am enjoying it immensely, I'm blown away by how active the zone events are in a year-old game (and not just the level 50 zone events, either). I don't think I've ever seen so much open-world group activity in a themepark MMO. Well done, Trion, for getting people to play together!

It's been a year since I played on beta? wow... I probably will get back to you somehow, some other time (I'll be honest I really want to play RIFT but it's always the time that I don't have)

Anyway, Happy Birthday RIFT!! Keep up the good work Trion

Played Rift for 5 months - it's extremely well designed game. Except for PvP part. If TRION will implement interesting world PvP scheme - I'll be there in no time (back from failing SWTOR).

Happy birthday, Rift!

I think the PvP is fun, but focus targeting and raid marking can turn it into a lesson of frustration. Good players stand out in the crowd, and are penalized hard for playing well. I really don't know how that could be addressed though in PvP? Perhaps reduced damage when more than 4-5 players are on one person in places like Port Scion (so long as no objective is being carried)? My boyfriend heals like nobody I have ever seen, and the second he is out on the playing field again, they are on him like angry bees.

Love this game, and I'm glad to see it doing well.

It's great seeing the developers giving love to so many MMO groups; the collectors, the PvPers, the raiders, the soloists, the achievement-hounds, social gamers, role-players, game-mechanics, weekenders, people who just want to play dress-up... there is a helluva lot they've jammed into a one-year-old game.
