Sorry but Revan was a horribly written novel. I really enjoyed the other 2 Old Republic novels but Revan was one that I just plodded through so I could get it over with.

It isnt the fact that trying to sell books is bad, i think it is a great way to make cash, especially if the writer is worth anything, but the problem for me lies in the population of SWTOR in itself, where are they hiding 1.7 million active paying subscribers?

A person would think with books flying off the shelves, tv ads, movie ads, that servers would have decent populations, its great so many diehard fans are willing to flail like a wild gorilla at any bad words typed against their game, but i ask aagin, where is everyone?

I popped in last night around 8 pm PST, with 140 days left on my sub and there are even less people than when i left. Come on folks, someone is not telling the truth. Server is Vornskr.

@Graill440 My server is absolutely overflowing most evenings there is a queue and forget the weekends you are going to be waiting.

So I guess it depends on your server

Well on my server, dsfsdfaqr, its over the top, groups are so easy to come by and I rarely wait more than 20 minutes to get into pugs. Illum is great and balanced and the auction house is always furnished.

I guess it depends on which server you play or at what times.

^^^Average swtor fanboy post.

In reality however, the game is cycling down the drain. Don't believe any of the crap you read from either bioware nor the fanboys, if you wanna see the real state of the game, login and be disapointed.

Or some people might be enjoying it... I happened to log in the other day and had fun, may even log in today as well. We'll see where the day takes me.

@Graill440

Sorry, gonna have to agree with Grail on this one. I have leveled 8 toons, on 2 different servers, and I pretty much solo'd my way to 30 on each one, with seeing only very few people at any point along the way. I honestly thought I was playing a SRPG at points. After I'd leveled my first 4 to 30, i decided to try their mirror class on a different server, and so intentionally picked one that said heavy... and yet the results was the same.

I am just not seeing any friggin people, and it's annoying as hell. I cancelled my sub the other night for that very reason. so if someone is claiming to have a server overflowing with people, please let me know where, cause I have yet to see it.

Yeah, I'm reading the Bane novels now and they are hands above most of the Star Wars fiction out there. More about character and the sci fi feel then about pure Star Wars.

I liked the Bane novels for what they were, but Revan was absolutely painfully bad.

The Bane series was poorly written so I'm not surprised to hear people thought the same of Revan. Some of you liked Bane, that's fine. They were bearable enough that I read to see how they ended. The simplistic characters, ham-handed attempts to create drama, and unfathomable leaps of logic involved in the actions taken by the characters made it a grueling experience at times. Karphyshyn is not a good writer of novels. Nothing personal, but the Star Wars franchise can do better.

@(Unverified) Gonna have to disagree with you there. Bane novels were some of the few that I bought. But you're always gonna have these disagreements. I think I was introduced to Drew with the first Mass Effect novel. Been a fan since.

@(Unverified) Reven was horrible, however the Bane series is some of the best Star Wars writing out there. If you think the SW franchise can do better you may have missed episodes 1-3. The Bane series had better character development and a more interesting plot than any of those movies. "simplistic characters, ham-handed attempts to create drama, and unfathomable leaps of logic involved in the actions taken by the characters" that IS Star Wars! Save the original trilogy; (unextended), the franchise doesn't offer much more.

If I hadn't seen the PT, then it could make even more sense why I have higher standards for Star Wars :P As for the OOT, viva la revolucion!

I think of the part where the Republic soldiers split up into two groups...because of the great likelihood that as a single army they would be spotted and most probably decimated. So...they double their chances of being noticed and even more probably ensure that at least half the army would be annihilated. That's a relatively small example, but these things leap out at me as if a mediocre RPer were directing the story. And of course there was the ambiguous ending that had to throw a gratuitous wink out at the reader. This style permeated the book. Whatever parallels one might arguably make with the OT, as written word the Bane series was poorly executed.

I think he really dumbs down his writing for Star Wars, his mass effect novels were much better and were a little more complex, not on the level of a legitimate sci fi novel, but still miles ahead of the swotor books.

I wonder if, at the end of each chapter, you'll have to wait 3 minutes for the next chapter to load.

I kid...I kid. Just having some fun. Night all!

Revan was an awesome book. They way he writes about Revan was so immersive,And smart. I know some of you who enjoy more action emo Sith happens novels dident like it, but he has a good way of telling a story that makes you want to know the rest.
