This might not look too great for World of Darkness since it's development was heavily American studio driven.

Does anyone have any confidence left in this company? I sure don't.

@Apakal

Why wouldn't you? CCP realized the error of their ways and completely changed their development plans for Eve after the Monocle Gate happened. I think they are getting back to their roots of what made them a great company in the beginning, actually listening to their customers.

@Apakal

As some others have said it's not too uncommon for CEOs to leave their positions to do something else.

Especially I might point out to CEOs of companies that are aquired by other companies.

Seems they actually usually go off on their own way after a few years the latest to either become top dog again in another company or to found their own or work on private projects.

Well here come the doomsayers...

There have plenty of 'higher ups' in the industry who have stepped down from big positions in big studios to work on newer things that mean more to them that they probably can't focus on in their current position for any number of reasons.

Let's not overreact.

@Baby Choo Choo

When a CEO/President leaves and continues to work its usually because he was offered more money, forced out or left because he/she lost control(which is still being forced out). They get paid a lot of money to stick around for as long as possible. Stability brings in investors. So a president leaving isn't doom but does make ones ears stand up.

Pruning high level positions is just good on the books.

I hope this is not for IPO reasons thou. IPOs lead to shareholders all wanting a piece of the pie and possibly sucking the life out of a company with profit taking schemes. IPO = greedy and often short term investors!

Now new blood is never bad either ;)

I wish him well, new companies are always more exciting and likely he is walking away with a nice bank account.

Great job and best of luck!

No matter what this news really means I really feel like White Wolf consistently is getting the crap end of the stick... I was a WW fan WAY before I was a CCP fan and I really want to see them succeed and release a proper World of Darkness MMORPG. Initially I felt like CCP was the right company to help make that happen but ever since last years endless cycle of debacles I feel like CCP have neglected White Wolf. Is this latest news indications of this? No one here including myself really knows for sure, but it sure as heck doesn't look good...

@Feydakin I wouldn't say they're neglecting them, just that they re-prioritized by again putting EVE first, and putting WoD Online on the backburner. In the long run, it's the only way WoD Online will ever happen anyway. CCP was spread too thin.

I think some are forgetting some people like start-ups or challenge in their lives, especially in the business world.

Really....19 years!

Sometimes to stay fresh and innovative, at least for oneself, it's best to move onto another company. Of course, pay-perks don't hurt either.

Damn shame it was the North American CEO, and not that god awful Icelandic CEO Hilmar that stepped down. That would have actually been fantastic news.

Wonder if this means an even long wait for that world of darkness mmo? Not that I'm really all that interested it personally.
