Wow, that's gotta be one of the coolest games I've seen in a while.

On an unrelated note - what defines "dub-step" vs like some of the old Crystal Method stuff? Why is it so reviled?

@Deliverator
ok, I have wikipedia too, but I'd still like to know why it seems a lot of people don't care for the style.

I love it, but to a lot of people it sounds like mindless noise. The style in this trailer is often derisively called "brostep," and is seen by many fans of older dubstep as being soulless and commercialized. Much of it is crap (since it's fairly easy to remix a track by adding what people think of as "dubstep staples"), but that's true of anything. Skrillex is the best-known producer of that style, and as such he's picked up the backlash for bringing dubstep into the mainstream, but IMO he's very talented (not to mention a nice guy).

The older stuff defined as dubstep is really in a completely different category, and you won't find as much of a unified sound. Really amazing stuff, whatever you think of the current incarnation of the genre. Skream, Benga, Kode9, and Burial are some of my favorites.

Wow, there's this whole debate going on there - the old vs the new. If you replaced dubstep and brostep with MMO pricing models it would be Massively. hehe

If anyone comes back and reads this - thanks again for the recommendations. I've been exploring the genera for days!

Also, I finally found the artist from the song in the video:

Coming this year!?! I had no idea! Wooot!

They do have the eye candy aspect down, no doubt! I would prefer a little less with the big-loud visual effects in combat like you tend to see over-the-top in eastern market MMO's. But generally it's looking fascinating! I do love the "housing" aspect, your own little world to build, that looks fun.

The cyberpunk cities and other awesome settings = awesome.

Everything else they put in there (combat) = didn't look remotely interesting (granted you don't see much of it).

Seriously, that city outshined everything. If I ever play this game I doubt I'd ever leave it.

Wow, so this game went from missing in action and probably never going to happen to full on awesomeness. That's a great trailer.

Very interesting. Still want to see actual game play and/or hopefully some type of Let's Play so I have some idea of what the gaming part of the Otherland is actually about, besides being based on a book series.

This reminds me of Second Life (not a bad thing). It's looking beautiful; I'll be interested to see more details about how it plays.

@Irem

There are so many visuals in this game that also remind me of Anarchy Online and Neocron. :-)

As a fan of the books, I've had my eye on this game for some time. Glad to see it's come so far. Can't wait to explore some of the crazy scary, whacked out 'worlds' portrayed in the books!

Looking great!
