While TERA's second closed beta event is in full swing right this very second, plenty of potential testers are raging at the heavens because the online store won't complete pre-order purchases and deliver the codes. Pre-ordering the title was the guaranteed path to beta, so it's understandable that players who had hoped to be giving this title a test drive are disappointed.
En Masse responded with an explanation and solution for the store snafu. According to the studio, the store provider experienced a "massive systems failure" yesterday, which caused the issues with saving purchases to the hard drives. The vendor is attempting to fix it, but there is no ETA on when the task might be completed.
The good news is that En Masse is watching the purchase logs and will be sending out game codes manually every two hours to pre-order customers. The studio assures everyone that his purchase will be recognized when the system is fixed and that if anyone accidentally purchased more than one copy by accident, the additional copies will be fully refunded.

Digital River had a major storage crash. It wasn't EnMasse/Bluehole at all and multiple games/companies were affected.
I bought yesterday and finally got my key and download link a few hours ago. 6 hrs to go on the download :(
For the record, EnMasse was really good with their support and communication. (and I tipped the story at 10AM est)

Wow, Digital River? Those folks have some major issues, all of them bad. Digital River has been at the forefront of many lawsuits and alot of controversy due to not delivering digital products, services, refunds, overbilling, etc for a number of years, it makes a lot of sense this company would be one nail in the coffin of this game.
Heh, the things a person finds out after the fact.

I guess that's why you beta-test your systems before going live.

My impression of Tera at the moment is of a train wreck waiting to happen, which is a shame as by all accounts the actual game is quite fun and has potential. Every other story that pops up about Tera seems to be reporting one mishap after another and it is making me wary of taking the plunge as far as getting the game for the launch.
For me I think this one is going on the one to watch list for the future once it has had time to settle and mature a little. Good luck to those who are taking the plunge though and I hope you all enjoy the game.

I don't think there's any question of "waiting" to happen - it's already happened!
When I read the title I had this wonderful image of the developers knocking on people's doors and handing them an invite!

Agreed, it's sort of of sad, because it has potential on paper.
Game lacks story lore elements, you have no idea about anything based on questing text. Questing is very bland: go kill X boars. The world is a mold of tunnels, with the feel of a endurance race track. Graphics are decent, however it appears like mobs have been randomly planted in places like corn stalks. Basics controls are extremely unfriendly at first, lacks intuitive sense, it took 3 hours searching through key bindings and toying around to get a basic understand. Setting up a controller is equally tricky. Once you get past that uncomfortible adaptation, combat is the only interest concept in this game. It's fast, very interative, and long time MMO players would enjoy the combat. However, again the rest of the game is really bad. It would take drastic overall to make this game work. However, due to the game being a Korean based, it's similiar to Aion with hand me down, year delayed long patching.
Bummer.

They are working AROUND the issue and finding SOLUTIONS. EVERYONE who preorder can get in.

thats a bit too much. TERA has to keep screwing ups for 3 years in a row to even reach the level of utter incompetence displayed by Mythic.
i dont think we will ever witness a game/company fail as much, and as hard, as WAR did...

Yeah, i read the entire article. It was the manual responses to pre-orders that made me post...because if I pre-order a game to get into a beta that is currently going on, it's because I expect to be in that beta the minute my check is cashed.
But that's just me. And thanks for assuming I wouldn't read all of 3 paragraphs of text before forming an opinion...I appreciate the, uh, respect.

seriously - It wasn't even their issue - it was Digital River - and it affected quite a few games.
