All the time.

My company is very friendly about days off and the reasons for them. Around here they call my video game vacations "Geekations."

Never.
Gaming is a "when I have free time to spend" activity, always secondary comparing to work, family, rest, etc.

I've done this twice. A few days vacation time to level my class before the weekend hit.

COD4 - competitions
WoW - Burning Crusade release
WoW - WotLK release
SWTOR - release

I regret wasting my vacation time on one of the things listed above but I won't delve into that for fear of being yelled at by some fanboy with his panties in a twist. :)

But yea, It's my vacation time and I usually have a lot saved up for emergencies so why not, right?

I have called into work because I don't feel well and ended up playing games, but never called in simply to have time to play. I have also never scheduled time off to play a game.

Both are pretty ridiculous notions to me honestly. Nothing in game is so important as all of that.

When I was in school I would skip out on classes to play games all the time, and would occasionally call in sick to work. I'd love to do that now, but a complete lack of any kind of job security prevents me from doing so. The thing is, I DESPERATELY need to take a day off and just veg out, my freaking job is killing me.

I got fired to play games. My unemployment finally runs out next month at the same time as my sub :(

Oh well. It's been a fun 18 months.

I took off work the week Skyrim came out - played 130 hours. It really made the game more fun since I had so few breaks from the immersion. I do it for early access too, so I can grab names.

Since I am a disabled veteran and don't have to work since my income is already provided for it really doesn't apply to me but if I was still working I would never even consider it. Games are just something I do in my spare time and couldn't bring myself to ignore real life responsibilities for.

I've done this once, and I did it with a goal. I was playing Final Fantasy XI, and it was well before the Valor options were added to make leveling quicker and easier.

I called off sick because my Beastmaster was level 69, and those I'd been BST-partying with had gotten to 71. It took me all day, from 8PM to 6PM, to solo my two levels in Caedarva Mire. Then I went and got my BST specific armor from the auction house. Wasn't the best gear for the job, but it looked cool as hell to run around in!!
