EVE Online Senior Producer Jonathan Lander says now that some of the nitty-gritty reorganization within CCP has been completed, the devs "are back in the serious business of making EVE better and better."
Citing several small releases over the next few months as proof, Lander lets loose with the announcement of the game's next big expansion: Inferno. Inferno will hit EVE "just before the summer" and will attempt to bring EVE's conflicts to a whole new level. Concord-sanctioned warfare and factional warfare will be getting tweaks as a result of this focus. More specific details about Inferno will be revealed at the EVE Fanfest in March.
And while he won't go into specifics (yet), Lander says that CCP will reveal "more concrete steps" of how both EVE Online and DUST 514 are connected in the next couple of months.

Meh...make the game less about jumpgates and flying around and looking at space and more about real game-play. You can't just leap into PvP right from the get go, so make PvE fun for once and not a total timesink.

Funny story. Just left a pvp fleet, will be on about 30 kills. Got blown up twice, but i was flying frigates. They're so cheap, it's insane really, if you consider how important they are in a small fleet. Their cost is lower than the ammo of my larger pvp ships.
In case you're not trolling, i'm just saying that there is a less obvious way to get into small/large scale pvp from day 1 (after tutorials). You might still find the pvp horrible, even in a good corp, coz the game's not that good really.

You can jump in PvP almost immediately after your newbie tutorial.
It's not about solo play. Flying cheap tackle-frigs doesn't require five billion SP.

Color me excited. Another Eve expansion and more news about DUST is always a good thing in my book.

I like EVE alot actually I really love the concept too, its just even as a player and someone who enjoys the fun parts of the game, I still remember how much of a drag this game can be starting out.....not so much a learning curve as a boring curve.

Looks like some of the predictions that walking in stations would be shelved for the year are true? Ah well.
At least this expansion is good news for pilots. I do agree that the PvE side could use a facelift with missions but the overall experience of the player driven content is amazing in this game.

honestly i love love love EVE. my character is maxed out, im in an awesome corp. but i just aint gonna have the time to roam looking for fights, and to grind to replace my lost ships, when GW2 comes out. no matter how cool EVE gets in 2012, i just wont have the time for it. it's a huge timesink.

...can you even max your character out? I'm not aware that this has been done yet.

Oh, is that still viable? CCP hasn't purged the bots like they promised?
Hmm, that actually makes me want to re-sub.

meh. I'll check it out again when you can actually leave your ship. Never really wanted to grow up to be a frigate myself.

Still waiting for walking in stations which was "released" during last summer. Going to play GW2, D3 instead of yet another half-finished cosmetic "expansion" (sadly, PvP in SWTOR is a failware).
