Wow. Kotick will probably scalp this guy personally for being honest/dissing D3.

@Joaquin Crowe He SHOULD be scalped. Or at least put on a "forum ban" for the next month or so. Bashiok has said some incredibly stupid things in the recent past. He just needs to take a few steps back and not try to "manage" any part of the community for a while. Go and take a little mental vacation.

I can definitely see Bashiok and the other "main" Blizzard CMs losing their sanity after the bad time they've been having for the last 16-24 months. They have not been a good time both financially and creatively for the company. But he needs to understand what is appropriate and not appropriate word usage for a forum post. Go back to spin class and relearn how to spin stuff correctly.

@Joaquin Crowe
Maybe this is his way of being honest with the community about how Kotick has ruined Blizzard titles.

No, dummy, they saw the frenzied postings from people regarding SWTOR and totally unrealistic expectations and they are trying to bring people back to reality.

The WoW community has driven other CMs totally bonkers before. Remember the Tseric incident?

What do you mean back to reality? Have you not seen how people are even on D3's forums? They are getting disappointed. I certainly haven't seen overblown expectations, not since they started yanking features.

@(Unverified) The biggest disappointment (and dealbreaker along with the "always on connection") was when they revealed the boss fight video was faked.

@(Unverified) I must respectfully disagree. Bashiok's job is definitely to manage expectations, and right now every Diablo fan I know is frothing at the mouth over this game. If it's not the unholy salvation of gaming as we know it, people are going to be very upset. This is Bashiok's way of covering Blizzard's collective butt well in advance of the inevitable furystorm.

Because it will come, no matter how many rainbows are in or out of the game.

I had to make an account on this website just to say how stupid this article is.

Could be worse. At least he didn't compare it to 'Lady in the Water'.

@Tanek Hey now, Lady in the Water at least had some substance. Fever dream substance, but still. I'd take a drug-induced hallucination of a fairy tale over a suicide-exploitation movie like The Happening any day.

In context he's pretty clearly joking. Still odd, though.

@Irem

Context - (or how Massively seriously needs to learn how to read the Blizz forums):

This thread which is subject titled is "." by a poster named "SomeMist" who OP'd "." ...I kid you not. Which was posted on 2/16/12 6:26 PM (PST) - 6 days ago.

Mr. Bashiok (formaly Mr. Drysc before he CM'd the D3's forums some years ago) comment was in response to D3BETA who trolled...I mean wrote:

" stopepd playing it with less than 7 ish hours of gameplay"

To which Mr. Bashiok pre-ambled:

"There's only like 40 minutes of content in the beta, so that's pretty amazing you played for 7 hours. I hereby crown this game ... SUCCESSFUL!"

...before posting that quote in the article above.

D3BETA then replied:

Unbreakable sucked though.

To which Mr. Bashiok finally posted:

"I actually really liked it. I know most people didn't. I've come to accept this."

...all posted 6 days ago. And now this thread is currently locked.

*Pulls glasses off in an Andy Rooney like fashion*

....you know, when a locked thread starts and subjected with a "." in the Blizz forums followed by Blue response who rattles off M. Night Shyamalan flicks in repsonse to a troll comment, you can confidently say the entire bloody thing was highly likely tounge and cheek from Blizzard's perspective. Therefore, there's is likely nothing to see here. Now move along...

...and wow, Massively...you really need to source your material better before publishing dubious quotes. Just saying.

Eh, it's been like this for awhile... Gotta get readers somehow, though making headlines of out-of-context quotes seems like a poor solution.

usually when a thread is titled "." and the post content is ".", 100 times out of 100 the OP editted his post to void because he couldnt delete it

I'd like you to introduce to this new thing called internet forums. you might have not noticed it, but they are almost 20 years old...

@Fabius Bile

....

But there is a mechanic that allows you to delete your own posts. I've used that feature in those forums for last 6 years, or didn't you know?

...but regardless, the content of my arguement still remains the uneffected. Thus this is a poor excuse at best.

And of coarse, I see that you are also practising common dynamic of the internet forums for the last 20 years for asshat posters who feel they have something to measure. It's called trolling. Welcome to the internet indeed. /shrug

@Utakata Why would he start this reply with "On a more serious note"? Just sayin' if he's playing around I doubt the comment would start with a notification claiming the opposite.
