Funcom has decided to push back The Secret World's launch by a couple of months. The Norwegian development firm originally intended its horror-conspiracy MMO to ship in April, but a new press release has targeted June 19th instead.
Creative director Ragnar Tørnquist says the new launch window will allow Funcom to make the title that much more compelling. "Allowing for even more time to polish the game really shows just how much faith Funcom as a company has in The Secret World, and how committed we are to making it the best it can be," he explains.
Tørnquist also hints at further beta opportunities for both fans and curiosity seekers. "The additional time will also allow us to carry out even more quality beta testing, and soon we will also be announcing several public beta events where hundreds of thousands of gamers will get to test the game prior to launch," he says.
The Secret World is a skill-based MMO set in the modern age. It mixes traditional MMO progression with a unique skill deck system and story-driven questing.

Too bad Guild Wars 2 will be coming out around that time... Nobody will be playing Secret World.

@(Unverified) No doubt GW2 will over shadow SW. There will be plenty of people to play it. It might not be huge, but then again The Secret World was never a huge franchise to begin with. They obviously aren't going for the big bucks. They are just playing it out, trying to do something a little unique and interesting. They tried the triple A approach and failed, so now they are trying to be a sleeper hit, and build from there.

Getting both of the most promising mmo's their payment models easly allow me to run both aswel, not that it cost a fortune to have two mmo's running at the same time.
About origin, funcom deals with the digital publishing, EA does the box sales according to official investor reports.
I think funcom needs to launch a grand scale "demo" event (stop calling it open beta really), just to renew some of the lost trust people got during either AO or AoC.

I'll be playing it. GW2 looks great but I'm getting a little burned out on the whole swords and sorcery thing. Funcom is daring to do something different here, at least in terms of setting.

Well, originally I was going to get TSW, but if TSW releases too close to GW2 (or after GW2), then I will most likely skip it.
GW2 is the game I really want to play anyway, and given it's lack of subscription, it makes financial sense to get GW2 first in any case, and jump to other games only after getting as much fun as possible out of GW2.

so, 1 fortune = 2 movie tickets per month? For a service that provides entertainment 24/7? $15 is a steal. Try doing anything else more than 1x per month for $15
