FYI for extra lulz, Smart crows about his experience with FPS by mentioning All Aspect Warfare.

Here's the Gamespot review: http://www.gamespot.com/all-aspect-warfare/reviews/all-aspect-warfare-review-6216554/

Don't knock Mr Smart least he has personality unlike alot of souless droids in the game industry (especially the moneymen) and his stuff is fun to read. Much better then some souless pap that comes out of SWTOR or GW2 devs.

I don't care WHAT the devs sound like. I only care that their product is actually worth playing.

Yes, and people tend to watch reality shows not for the calm, reasonable people but for the crazy ones. (Which is why producers these days select for the latter, and then edit the footage to increase the crazy-to-normal ratio.)

@avaloner "his stuff is fun to read."

That's never been in dispute, it's the fact that reading his comments is so much more entertaining than playing his games that is the problem.

I'll see your one thumbs down GameSpot review and raise you these. Let me know if you need more. Reviews are subjective and based on personal opinions. Just like movies, books or whatever. So basing a game on one or two reviews is foolish. Unless of course the idea is to just troll the developers.

Mr. Smart never fails the community. He's like the 'Ocean Stratagy' of game developers. Thanks for the lulz, Derek!

Confus I am.

Q: do you have separate maps?
A: no, we had a unique map with everything thrown in, then performance, network and all "real world" stuff forced us break map up and connect them with jumpgates.
Q: so... do you have separate maps?
A: no. we have many connected maps.

My suggestion to Jef Reahard: Don't feed the troll...

@pid (We're doing PR on the game - disclosure) Harsh, dudes. Ultimately we really wanted to get onboard with this game in order to try and get LoD to stand on its own -- rather than having people's prejudices affect the perception of the game.

We know it's going to be tough :). But we really do hope you guys can let the game speak for itself. There are still a few months before release, and there'll be a beta in there. Hopefully it'll prove to be a good game that you can enjoy. That's really all that matters.

@TomOhle Mr. Ohle, considering the pedigree of this game (aka. Mr. Smart's legendary usenet stunts and more) PR on LoD will be a miraculous feat. I wish you all the luck you'll need doing your job.

Just for refreshers, to all those younglings who had not the "luck" to play Battlecruiser back then in the 'ole days... take out the popcorn and enjoy the show.

This guy uses "I" so many times in his answers, you would have thought he developed the entire game himself. -_-

Wait until it goes horribly wrong, you'll find the "I" turns to "they" then!

gotta love when a dev isn't afraid to describe his own gameplay as "Rinse. Repeat.".

and i am not being sarcastic in anyway. love to hear people just call things as they see them with no regard to "oh, i can't say something that might give a bad impression of my game, i have to word that in a much more political way"

Pay to Win is a terrible model for a competitive FPS... I can't even begin to comprehend how they thought this was a good idea. As for Mr Smart, I have no comment. I am pretty sure if anyone bothers to Google him they will find all the information that they need to form an opinion on their own.
