The confrontation between Brainiac and the world's most superpowered figures is coming to a head, as SOE announced that a final confrontation with DC Universe Online's premier villain will take place in the game's third DLC pack. Titled The Battle for Earth, the pack will pit players against Brainiac's final avatar, the Avatar of Magic, during a raid on Wonder Woman's home of Themyscira.
To assist players with this new raid, SOE is arming superheroes with the game's ninth powerset: Earth Powers. Earth-using heroes can excel at both tanking and damage by using earthquakes and constructs to bring the pain to enemies.
The core of the pack's storyline will lead players through the struggles against Brainiac as he creates Prime Avatars to conquer the world. The Battle for Earth DLC pack also includes an invasion in South Gotham, another raid, duos, and a Courthouse Alert.
SOE says that the DLC pack is coming "soon" and will be included for Legendary members or available to purchase for Premium and free players. You can check out screenshots from the pack in the gallery below.

Given all the fliers I see in this game, I'm not sure how popular Earth powers could be. Besides, excluding Terra (and Clayface I suppose if you REALLY want to count him) were there even any earth based heroes? The only other thing I can think of is Earthbenders :P
I was hoping for some sort of Atomic powers because I have a fondness for the Atom, oh well maybe next time.

There have been 3 or 4. In DC Earth control is usually mixed with gravity control so that flying is not an issue. Marvel says sand and dust can be weaponized by earth controllers.
But in the end, why is it an issue when COH had earth powers 5 years ago.?

It's not really an issue, just odd when still don't have others like wind/water/atomic, all of which are more widely represented in the DCU (Red Tornado, Aquaman, the Atom all off the top of my head).
And no Batman Beyond? BOO! That is an issue for me in that Terry McGuinness is, quite possibly, the coolest hero ever.

Don't care. Comics do mirror verses/multiple realities/what if scenarios/other dimensions/split timelines/dreams/ect/ect/ect all the time. Continuity be damned I want some BB love.

One of things I dislike about the structuring of DCUO's powersets is that its very hard to imagine how these new playsets work in game. I wish they would have followed the comic's archetypes for powers as well as travel powers.

Well, this doesn't seem to bode well for the future of DCUO.

I missed the last 3x Station Cash holiday (which was really just a day), but the next time I catch one in my inbox, I'm definitely going to drop $10 and buy the three DLC packs. I really enjoyed the game on release and thought it was a fantastic distraction from more "srs" games like WoW and with the extra population from the F2P conversion I think it's in a great position to keep that job. Unfortunately, as a Premium (once monthly), I think I get just 6 slots, which means that plenty of my 30s are going to get deleted. Oh well, it takes hardly a week of casual play to cap out in DCUO either way.

Darkseid will invade. I've been very dissapointed in the lack of Apokolyps in this game.
Or maybe it will end with a Brainiac/Luthor fusion. I'd like that.
