Funny how people get upset about Elin clothing, but the fact that you've got child-like chars wielding medieval weaponry to cut off heads, spill bowels and incinerate people is pretty much ok with everybody.

But seriously, I'm hoping one thing from TERA: that it will shake the MMO industry out of the "Let's immitate WoW 'cause that way we can't fail" mindset. I will buy it and play it, although its metagame is not nearly as well-made as the current-gen MMOs, only because the combat is light-years better. Meaning, it has stepped beyond what was awesome 15 years ago. And then, hopefully, some western companies will extract heads out of backsides and make stuff worth playing, too.

"They look exactly like young children"

You know some strange looking children. "Harmful taboo" to who? You realize you're talking about something that doesn't truly exist, correct?

The people who view Elin and the first thing that's pop into their head is real life children are far more creepy than the people who get their kicks from a "FICTIONAL" animal girls with giant hips.

"I have absolutely no defense for the creepiness inherent in showing thigh and cleavage on tweenage girls."

Cleavage? Have you taken a look at one of these things?

Creepy roricon design-language aside, these thousand-year-old creatures seem to have no use at all for mammary glands, and therefor never developed them. They have an alien physique. Huge hips, gigantic heads, and flat as a washbo--- no, even flatter than that.

"If the real world operated according to your moral sense, digital creation would grind to a halt."

Bull. Did movie creation grind to a halt when the studios violated Edison's patents? Edison didn't WANT movies made like that, but the 'theft' of his ideas resulted in progress and a larger, more vibrant market.

I could go on with examples of 'lawful' restrictions that were unjust and restrictive of progress.

Freedom inspires growth, and unjust laws stifle that freedom. I'm no advocate of anarchy -- I understand the good reasons for some structure to IP law. But that structure, like government, best serves society through it's checks and limitations.

If NCsoft cancelled Lineage III, then they had no plans to actually do anything with the art and game assets. It may have been legally underhanded, but that content would have never seen the dawn of day had it not been for Bluehole and En Masse. I don't really see it as stealing if the stuff they took wasn't ever going to be sold or make NCsoft profit in any way.

NCSoft paid those employees to create the material they did. Legally, it belonged to NCSoft. They walked out with the code on flash drives. This wasn't a case of using similar code in something else. This was them actually taking NCSoft property. That is theft.

While I love TERA-Online for it's unique game-approach there's been several blunders that has happened to the franchise that has crippled it's progress.

1)First the lawsuit by NCSoft that was trying to prevent TERA from being launched at all.

2)Then the censorship and rigid moderation on the TERA online-forums. Majority if not all the forums posted on En-Mass are locked under Elin. When En-Mass announced they were going to censor Elins threads were locked and players were threatened with bans if they posted about the changes. For months fans sat with no idea what En-Mass was doing and their fears of poor editing came to pass. The new armor renditions are downright lazy and an eyesore with a possibility that the renders might be passed 'as is' in their lazy form for retail.

To this date En-Mass has not officially announced that they will proceed with any further changes or in enhancing the armors. Trolls immediately debunked Elin topics to have them locked by moderation. En-Mass instead of removing the troll posts locks a thread and all conversation and legitimate posts are trapped within the thread and the troll posts are still available.

Poor communication skills reflects badly on a company and is pushing many a fans who like anime or cosplay away from TERA Online due to the hostility and treatment done to Elin Fans on the forums. Which is never a good idea to isolate or alienate fans.

3) The current forums are simply lack-luster. There is no customization. No Editing. Nothing. Popular topics are debunked down the page the more they are posted in. The only topics that stay up at the Top temporarily are new or permanent announcements.

4) The IP-Blocks. While IP blocks have been used for years by eastern game-companies and in combination of language barrier,TERA'S IP block focuses upon preventing users from accessing anywhere besides the US,EU, and South Pacific regions. This poses a problem since gold-miners and hackers can easily circumvent these blocks but potential users of TERA-Online are blocked.

5)Pre-Order confusion. The CE retail edition never came to pass at the distribution stores. Anyone who ordered CE would have missed out on the first CB Beta testing.

6)Crashing. When logging onto the CB for the first time the servers were filled with over 2,000 users logging in. The amount was too much causing users to be randomly booted off the client and having to wait an extra 20-40 minutes to get back in-game.

7) Launcher troubles. Patches take a lot of space and as equal time. If a player D/C's during the middle of a patch they are forced to restart the patch over back at the beginning. That could mean a 1GB patch awaiting an hour or more download all over again.

If En-Mass is going to be a serious gaming company it has to stop shooting itself in the foot or it may find end up dying out in a year or so.

the whole NCsoft thing is laughable. Code was stolen and instead of being used in the game it was returned. That is why those who took it were found guilty but the game was still deemed an original product in the later hiring. The game looks nothing like the concepts for L3 when you check out the PDF that has been circulating.

People need to get over this whole Elin thing. The changing of their armor to make them less skimpy had even MORE of a backlash then anything the people crying "pedo game" produced. It is silly to see the Elin in skimpy armor and get offended and it is also pretty rare. As rare as people who see the castanic with horns and cry it promotes bestiality and cross species splicing... or satanism. You can't please crazy people and if you are crying about the Elin being too creepy, you are crazy.

I haven't read a single story or heard from a singer person about any pre-order purchaser missing CB1. In fact there are tons of people who have had support GMs hand deliver codes directly to their inbox just so people WOULDN'T miss out. I find it hard to believe that anyone who missed out ordered withing the first week and stayed on top of the info/support section to try and get their code.

The MMOFO campaign.. well ok that is weird but it is also getting positive reviews... surprisingly.

En-Masse has lost confidence of it's players because of the way TERA was handled.

I myself will be skipping this company completely and going to a company that actually listens to its players, not pretends to while excluding others.

Just be prepared if En-Masse ever decides to get future games that aren't US made.

I'm disgusted how Elin was purposely trimmed, edited, and okey-doked out of both promotion and website but all over the place on other websites. Now used as a very minor character in these versions after folks protested how crappy the character was being handled by En-Masse. So one promotion video was released while 90% of website and video still contains Amani, Castanic, and Human coverage.

Well whoopdie-doo.

Have fun playing your half TERA game. If there's any delays in patches, artwork missing or cutscene clip-offs you'll know why because the big asian friendly boss En-Masse is busy censoring the game like a religious vanarch for the west. While proudly boasting how cultural it is at the same time too. Hypocrisy.

Thou shalt not be non-western! If thou not western, thou shalt be purge like swine!

This is how En-Masse have been treating the Elin situation:

"Hello Sky,

If you could just report the said threads and inform others to do so then our community manager will be sure to take note of this and take the necessary action.
Since as I know there isn't a functionality to report the whole thread just report the first message in the thread.
They aren't technically spam then go ahead and report them as either of the other two choices and the community manager will be sure to take care of it.
Typically Scapes or one of the other community managers will handle these type of situations.

Regards,

Zak “GM Immascarybunny”
EME Customer Support - Specialist"

http://tera-forums.enmasse.com/forums/races/topics/For-those-sick-of-the-Elin-threads?page=1

This is horrible customer service and a poor example of purposely excluding voices from the community that pays to play. If players can't ask for reasonable changes then how long can En-Masse expect to be around for?

I use to not care but after seeing how En-Masse handles its customers it's time to move to another company that doesn't treat its players as side-trash. I feel sorry for anyone who wants to play this game and be under these companies.

Update:
En-Masse is also removing player selling pet shops and restricting BoP so players will have to go on multiple dungeon runs just to get items. They have also removed in-game items like box of mischief.

http://tera-forums.enmasse.com/forums/news-announcements/topics/Game-Content-Updates?page=1

And, as they have done with Elin they are dodging questions and locking threads generated on the topic and forcing players to talk about it under a single thread.

This company is already on the road to turn Tera into another typical MMMO.

They are REMOVING content from Tera. And the question for CE being delivered on time remains unknown after their mess-up of not having CE in the retails. Once En-Masse removes content they DO NOT change it back or 'make it better'. This company is a joke and their hyping their product up wanting players to pay MORE for LESS content.

Soon they'll have people try to report BoP threads. Some idiots are riding along side En-Masse and have done so. Some BoP threads about the changes have already been locked while En-Masse funnels them all into one cluttered thread so it's easier to put the lock on.

Broken Forum, soon to be broken game that's already half-way there. I am glad I canceled my CE in the nick of time. I refuse to support a company that makes half-hearted changes because THEY didn't like something. Never asked their player-base if there was anything wrong with it and they are dodging questions JUST as they did with the Elin situation and players.

The 'westernization' is an excuse to water this game down as much as possible until it's another WoW clone with action-combat.

EME is now also removing Selling Pets and in-game items. BoP is being restricted as well.

http://tera-forums.enmasse.com/forums/news-announcements/topics/Game-Content-Updates?page=1

Brian Knox is the same idiot from Aion:

Look at the player comments who know how much crap this guy did to Aion.

A moron who doesn't know what he's doing and passing his POV onto the game itself. This game in NA is going to be so watered down it's a failure waiting to happen.

I'm glad I canceled my CE. This is the jerks who killed this game character and won't even fix the mess they made. Even when people suggested better changes they out-right refused after much threads and polls players sought for a YEAR trying to get communication from EME.

http://tinypic.com/r/5zqhdt/5
http://tinypic.com/r/vr5uf4/5

This is what EME wants players to be stuck with. I am not paying almost $50-$90 dollars for a watered down butchered version where the company doesn't give a crap what they give to their players. The first time this idiot mentioned elin as "little girls" he should have been fired. A company that immediately associates their product that their selling as reference to real-life shouldn't be in the gaming industry at all.

So much ignorance, intolerance and double-talkings from one company. EME is not a suitable publisher for foreign mmo's.
