If you've ever wanted to own the Twilight Highlands or the Swamp of Sorrows, Blizzard's new foray in boardgaming is for you. The gaming giant is partnering with Hasbro and Parker Brothers to bring you a World of Warcraft-style Monopoly title. The unholy hybrid will be available this May for $39.95.
Blizzard is also allowing fans to vote on game pieces via its Facebook page, and the choices include the doomhammer, crafting anvil, hearthstone, and spellbook. Blizzard is also trying its hand at a RISK tie-in with RISK: StarCraft, which is slated to debut later this summer.

@yeppers Well this former WoW player isn't going to buy it. To me it just seemed a sad attempt for Blizzard to try and recoup income losses from the dropping WoW sub numbers.

Hell yeah, probably not this one but there are some awesome board games out there; I love the D & D co-op games. You should check them out.

I'd buy World of Warcraft toilet paper if they made it.
The way this company is now it's a wonder it's not available.

Indeed.
Hell, even NINTENDO -- if there ever was a more conservative gaming company -- diversified. After only 5 years of success with the NES, they commissioned the Nintendo Cereal System.
Cereal!
Just think of the possibilities... lol (separate cereals for all their franchises, QQ tear marshmallows, etc)

I cant think there will be any crossover between the two genres of gaming. Board games and MMOs are about as opposite as north and south but I guess it was only a matter of time....!

I'll end up buying 2 of the Monopoly's. One that I never open and one to open and play with my wife and kids.

Could we one day have something that's *not* a Collector's Edition? How about a good old-fashioned Regular Joe Edition? I'm really sick of all the 'collector's' branding.

@pcgneurotic you know... you're right. I haven't seen a normal version of Monopoly in a long, long time.

I don't get the connection between the game and Monopoly. Yeah you could skin anything onto Monopoly but still. Maybe Blizzard should think of putting some property trading (housing) into it's game first.
