I don't follow Darkfall at all, so what happened to the first darkfall incarnation? Did players disliked it that much?

@(Unverified) It just had a horrendous grind, so bad that it would literally take you nearly a year to be somewhat decent at PvP. For people who didn't PvP well... Darkfall isn't really for people who only like to craft or what have you. So, all in all I really liked DF, it was just so time consuming I didn't have the time to truly play it. A typical siege could last for hours.

@Faction 3 Wouldn't character wipes really piss off the current paying player base, though?

I think they plan on overhauling the skill system. Not exactly a wipe but close. If you have 100 skill in Witchcraft but the Witchcraft school doesn't exist anymore, its just like a wipe.

That limbo system is stupid, i'm sorry but that is against the spirit of the game, everyone will just have bags full of a set of gear ready, they did before anyway, then they'll respawn, heal up and run in again.

That's dumb.

as long as the timer is 10mins+ its ok with me. If they wanna go get a drink and use the bathroom instead of respawning, i don't really care. I DO care that someone I kill is out of commission for a decent set amount of time ..otherwise whats the point of killing them in the first place? Too many games allow stuff like this in pvp. In DAOC, if you killed someone ..either they got a rez from a friendly player, or they made the trip back from the home realm. It was part of why pvp MEANT something in that game, and a major part of why PVP means NOTHING in most games these days.

@Resurge So what your saying is that you dont want to have to fight someone who is prepared to fight you,you would rather sneak up on someone unsuspecting and gank them and then have time to be gone before they came back ready to try to get revenge?

@alucard3000 I hope you realise he is not talking just about ganking? He does not mean what you said. At all. It's simple. If you kill someone, whether that is in pvp, ganking, war/siege or something else he shouldn't be able to ress immidiately. If he wants to ress in spot at least give him a 10 minute timer or something.

@alucard3000 lol, im pretty sure thats not what i said at all :p I mean pvp in a pvp zone should have meaningful consequences including kicking you out of the area for a reasonable amount of time, thereby giving the victor a reward for killing his enemy ..not gear, not gold, not tokens ...advantage IN THE BATTLE or whatever. I pvp for the thrill of the fight, and the satisfaction of a good kill. I do not want to fight the same guy 7 times in a row because he keeps rezzing in place. If he can respawn at a graveyard somewhere not real close, come back, find me and kill me, good for him ...well played.

If this game had a PvE server (it defeats the purpose, I know) I would play this game to death. I hate "Tera is the first action MMO" ... no darkfall beat you to the punch. It also has an awesome crafting system, I love the leveling ideas ... wish there were TONS of npc so you wouldn't notice the fact that the game is a ghost town.

I love EVERYTHING about it except pvp.

@Kalec: Agreed. I've always said this game will remain a commercial failure until such time as they launch a consensual PvP server. There simply aren't enough pure PvP players to make it a success on their own.

That's fine, of course, if all they want it to be is a small niche product that never goes anywhere but it is very much a wasted opportunity in my view, the game could be so much more than that.

@Kalec

yup. the PVP is the worst thing about the game. the vast power gap between noobs & vets is horrendous. the vast majority of players only spend the tiniest fraction of time fighting compared to all the grinding of stats, resources, skills, inventory, armour/weapon acquisition and all the other billion things you gotta do to be PREPARED for a very short lived battle. and then a good chunk of all that grind/time investment.

and yet there are so many great things to enjoy about its awesome world design and fun PVE. the only MMO that has fun PVE.

a PVE server would easily get them 4x as many players (if not alot more).

Sounds like you would prefer a game with no investment or penalty, where it doesn't matter if you live or die.

Most of what you discussed is available in other games. Hell, I'd say TERA is right up your alley because from what I've heard, even on the pvp servers it's only consensual.

Darkfall may not be the perfect sandbox, but when people talk about it, they rarely mention how fun it was to kill the dragon day in and day out. They remember the people they were trying to protect themselves again by killing the dragon and using it's loot ;P

*meant to say a good chunk of the time/grind investment is lost pretty much each time you die to PVP
