My sub runs out on the 20th, if by then theres still no sign of dual spec, dungeon finder or 1.2 on live, I don't plan to renew it.

I'll most likely go back to a more developped MMO for a while, like EQ2. On another note, Rift is looking good as well.

If there's a lesson to be taken from the Swtor experience imo, its that you should always wait 6-12 months before suscribing to a new MMO, no matter how big the hype is,

Do you mean dual spec within an AC or changing ACs? Because we are getting the former(the only thing one can mean by dual spec), and the Q&A says Dual Spec is in 1.2. Last I heard, their next big patch is in March, so expect 1.2, with it hitting Test Servers a few weeks before that.

No, the lesson to be learned is don't buy an MMO backed by EA or Activision.

Their shareholders get pissy when a game isn't ready to be launched by a certain date and they make them release it anyway. As proved with SWTOR. It had a terrible launch, still has loads of bugs and a terrible engine that isn't finished. But EA didn't feel like dumping more money into the development before selling the game and this is the result.

Glad I un-subbed before it pay to play.

Feel free to down vote my factual post. FACTUAL POST

Sad that you got down rated for simply stating why you won't be renewing your subscription. And for voicing an opinion on what you've learned. Like you, my other half and I won't be renewing and the laundry list of reasons why would fill a multiple page article all on its own.

I did find this Q@A more useful then most of them, there was more substance to the answers to bring it back on topic. Some good info on at least talking about cross server queuing for warzones and the upcoming changes to the UI including the big one for me, which is "target of target". The lack of that was a bad one at the start, it should be quite apparent who is targeting someone when your looking at them. Not including it made healing and other aspects of the game much much harder then it needed to be.

One thing I do wish that someone would bring up and that is the leveling issue. Something I have heard others complain about and has happened in this house hold as well. Let me explain and I'll use my trooper character as the example. Though I found it true with all other characters I started leveling.

What I do as a player is I try to do each heroic once, each flash point once on each game world. I figure that why I get to experience the various stories as much as possible with out gaining too much experience to but me ahead of the world quest level areas. What I found though is that even doing this puts you ahead of the curve rather quickly.

I hit Coruscant around level 12 and then hit Taris at level 19th. Coruscant being around 11th to 16th level bracket. Taris is 16th to 19th. I left Taris at level 24th, almost level 25th. It was at this point that I saw the big problem looming before me. I had to stop doing certain activities if I wanted to actually experience as much of the content/story lines etc as possible.

The next world is Tatoonie which is basically 24/25 to 28th. I ended up passing on the flash points and most of the heroics scattered around the world and still left the world at 32nd. The next world is Alderaan, a 28th to 32nd level range of questing. As you see I was getting at each world with the quests all green by that point and thats with now skipping flashpoints, warzones and heroics.

I left Alderaan at 36th skipping almost all but the class quests and some sundry quests I did along the way. Hitting the next planet Balmorra a 32 to 36 level questing area. I did some questing, skipped the heroics, flashpoints, warzones and left Balmorra at 39th. The next world is Quesh a 36th to37th leveling world.

It was at this point that I finally threw my hands up and said screw it. I'm focusing on pvp and that is all I've been doing for the past few days. Figured I'd get my level 40 pvp gear. Basically they've screwed up on the amount of experience they give out for all activities, either that or they needed to put in more levels per game world. Which would have made the cap higher to start and much harder. The easier fix would be to lower experience gain.

Either that or turn SWTOR into a MOBA and say there ya are, you all start at cap now have at. Because trying to enjoy the journey to the destination is rather hard and frustrating when you quickly find yourself not being able to actually experience all the journey. Long winded point here, I'd wish someone brought the experience gain/level issue up.

@Celtar I'd like to see the Flashpoints become like PVP. Everyone gets Bolstered to 50 and than anyone can play any Flashpoint.

Oh now that is an interesting concept. I actually wouldn't mind trying that out with flashpoints. Honestly I'd love to actually experience more of those but like the space combat which I forgot to mention, I had to give them up. Not doing the space combat wasn't much of a loss since I found it really a weak system for an space based mmorpg.

But the flashpoints, those I truly wanted to experience, so yeah doing the bolster idea is a good one Jonbuck. Lets hope they decide to do that later on.

I'm missing where the problem is here. Your issue is that by doing all the content you were out-leveling the planets, thus creating some kind of issue? What possible issue could you have with being a bit overleveled for a planet? Your 'problem' sounds like whining, quite frankly. There are plenty of actual issues with TOR to comment on without making up straw men like "But I leveled too fast doing all the content!"

Or you're just being a bit of a jackass and flaming him for an issue that was very well explained.

If you're having to avoid doing basic content (quests and single FP runs) just to keep on-level with the planet themepark ride, because doing that content means you're 4-5 levels above it, then there's a problem.

While you may enjoy facerolling everything, not everyone does. Some people actually like leveling up without fighting mobs that are all grey to them. As he VERY clearly stated, if doing the content means you're way overleveled, they might as well just start us all out at level 50 and skip the leveling up completely.

@(Unverified) Out-levelling content -- because there is too much content -- is only a problem for "completists." If you have a compulsion to complete every quest (for every character) that is your choice, not the games. For Alt-aholics, like myself, it is great problem to have because it allows us to alternatingly (sp?) "leap-frog" planets so we can level-up two characters without having to repeat (much) content.

The real solution is to implement a "Combat XP Off" toggle -- but only for PvE.

I will agree that the game seriously needs a better LFG mechanism. It's too hard to find people to do heroics with and -- even if you do -- chances are that getting all the players in the group to the site of the heroic is going to take a while. SWTOR has some definite travel/LFG issues to address.

I also agree that this game will likely improve a lot over the next 4 to 8 months. In the meantime, though, I'm having a blast in it, despite the things in SWTOR (and there are a number of them, I readily admit) that aggravate me.

@Celtar

I disagree with you about the leveling issue. I like that the quests are available in abundance, so that you don't have to do them all on each character. Likewise the heroics.

This game is well designed for players that want to play through the various storylines on different characters but also want enough quests so that not all these alts are doing exactly the same quests.

My advice on that front is to do a few quests here and there and drop the rest, to be completed on other characters. It's really improving the quality/variety of my playthoughs on various alts.

@kalipou134 So essentially you want it easier in an already easy game . Also I'm guessing want to kill off world pvp by them impleneting a dungeon finder . I think you should go back to WoW because pandering to people like you just destroys what make mmos interesting .

They did NOT say dual-spec is coming in 1.2, but SOON.... This kind of misinterpretation is what starts rumors and makes people whine and complain when a feature does not show up. Go back and read it again...

I, myself am pumped about 1.2 for what it will have. If dual spec happens to make it, even better. I am not bored with the game. I did not rush to complete everything and have been taking my time and finding out which class suits me. My highest character is a 40 and I for one have had no regrets about buying the game or staying subbed.

@Celtar So just to be clear for the fans reading at home: Your problem with the game is that there's TOO MUCH CONTENT.

Let me phrase this "problem" another way: When I level an alt up, I can do it without running the exact same quests I finished doing with my main. I can see new stories, new areas, and get different rewards. And that's... bad?

MMO players are a strange, strange bunch.

That's good to hear. Lack of dual spec was one of the reasons I didn't buy it. I'll have to re-assess when this 1.2 goes live.

Leveling up past a zone's intended level range is natural. Most MMORPGs do that. If they didn't, then every player would be required to complete every single quest before moving on to the next zone (and if they didn't, they would be underleveled).

The only necessary quests to do in SWTOR are the class quests. Everything else is basically side quests, which should be completely optional. Although you probably have to do some of them to maintain levels, it is your choice on which side quests to do. This keeps the game from becoming stale if you decide to roll alts. More mature MMOs get around this by also offering more zones of equivalent level ranges, but in SWTOR, you are pretty much restricted in the order you proceed though the various planets.

Couldn't agree more.

EA stink and their service stinks more. never buying one of their over hyped up busted crap again.

As for SWTOR why would i want to pay $15 a month for a one player RPG thats essentially an online Kingdoms:Amalur with lightsabers?

all hype

Well as usual, another developer Q&A that said a whole lot of nothing.

And lol @ the "We're pleasantly surprised with PvP" statement.

Almost every question is fairly informative. Also the mention of unit frames in 1.2 and cross server PVP queueing in the future are big news.

Why bother posting troll material?

They told us about at least 5 different things that will be in 1.2(Target of Target, new warzone, new social gear, dual spec, Hue to Chest), and you think it was a useless Q&A that told us nothing?

Haters gonna hate.
