Unless you were at PAX Prime last year, about all you've seen of WildStar in action has been the game's cinematic trailer. While it didn't give much of an idea of how the game played, said video certainly had a lot of style. According to the latest WildStar Wednesday community blog post, that style was a big part of the game's narrative design, which is seen as one of the main points of development -- making a game that feels large, engrossing, and epic.
As lead designer Chad Moore explains it, the narrative design team is responsible for outlining the world of Nexus, which was in part created to serve as a perfect locus for a variety of different adventures. While this design team isn't particularly concerned with mechanics, it is concerned with ensuring that every part of the game has the same degree of personality as the first cinematic trailer. If you're one of the many people anticipating the game heavily, take a look behind the scenes to see how it produces its feel.

I don't understand why you guys hyperlink the name of a game and the link doesn't actually go to the game. Well, I do understand it I guess *cough*, but it's still annoying :p

@Aelon you have a nice in-article link to the source blog, and its nice having all the source material, including the game's homepage, in one spot at the bottom of the article.
On the other hand, do youtube videos of convention gameplay not count when we're talking about "seeing it in action"? The game looks great, with a multiplayer zelda feel.

@jimr9999us There is a short gameplay clip on the website.

The trailers are Pixar-esque, but the gameplay looks very WoW-inspired from the artwork to the in-game cutscenes. I see a targeting circle around the mobs with the guy just standing toe-to-toe without dodging, so it appears to be WoW-style gameplay with external 'jumping puzzle' environment elements (The explorer gets to dodge avalanches).
In short, it looks like Wrath of the Lich King went scifi and had a couple of years to polish their mechanics. In space. With bunny ears and fluffy tails.

I feel pretty confident this will be a themepark, which is great if you like themeparks, but sad for those of who don't care for them.

You are probably right, but I'm holding out some hope that they will have at least some sand box elements too. Being able to build up a settlement->town->city... or personal homes/estates might be enough to hold my interest longterm......at least much more so than an "endgame" gear hamster-wheel grind.
