I love how the tests end when most people are just getting back from work. /endsarcasm

Are their males in this game?

Or is this kinda DOA beach Volleyball: MMO edition?

There are males, but while the High Elf/Castanic guys are pretty eye-candy-riffic, only the Castanics are really sexualized to even a fraction of the extent the females of every race are. Still, it's nice to see a bunch of hot demon dudes running around with their shirts unbuttoned, wearing midriff tops and low-slung pants for a change. It at least makes the game feel like it's going for more than one audience.

@Irem

That sounds great!

I'd like to give this game a try but, well, I have one final concern.

Does it use GameGuard? Pando? Or any of those 'programs'.

@ElfLove

I have the beta client for this coming weekend's US CB event and there was no 3rd party software installed.

My wife and I also installed the beta client for the upcoming test on the 10th-12th, and neither of us encountered any 3rd party programs either - yet. I was pretty impressed with the update client that downloaded the game, it included some advanced options which most clients do not, such as allowing you to run a diagnostic to test your system to find out how well the game will run based on their minimum or recommended specs, and advanced options for things such as downstream capping in case you're not alone on a static connection and don't want it eating all of your bandwidth.

Oh wow! That sounds super cool! Especially this.

"client that downloaded the game, it included some advanced options which most clients do not, such as allowing you to run a diagnostic to test your system to find out how well the game will run based on their minimum or recommended specs"

I'm telling ya, between this and some of the artwork and screen shots I've seen of the fellas of this game, (those guys with the horns...hubba hubba!), I'm super sold on TERA!

I just hope I get a beta. @_@ *crosses fingers*

I managed to get on last nights test, which I think was only running for an hour. The servers were responsive and it seemed like a great effort was made by all to spam the chat as much as possible... it held up well anyway!

It's a rather fast paced game and I'm looking forward to playing the betas :)

@BORODA For me it's now a choice between 22 euro/month for TERA (sub + proxy) with a risk of being blocked completely and loose all my progress, or a sub-free GW2.

I was able to try TERA tonight, it runs very smooth, even with lots of people in the same zone. I wish SWTOR had that kind of engine. At this point it's hard to decide how the game will last in a long run. Without political system it's still an old MMO model which we've seen in WoW, Rift, SWTOR - questing, instances, battlegrounds. Combat is refreshing though.

There is some gambling stuff I don't like - i.e enchanting gear and gambling boxes for crystals, etc, but asian people find gambling exciting it seems.

I got my CB1 key by email a few days ago, made my account, and then chickened-out when I saw it was something like a 20-25 gig download. For one definite weekend of testing, maaaaaaaybe more? Nahh.

@pcgneurotic I don't get why people get dramatic over sizing of betas/games.

If you BUY the game, you'll need the space anyway. Secondly, if you can't spare 30gb of space, you need a new/extra hard drive soon anyway.

If you don't like it, you delete it. Or if you're worried about how long it'll take, leave it overnight or when you're busy.

Just my two cents. Never understood it.

Yes, I do need more drive space - I'm running out like crazy across all my internals and several external USBs too, plus one of them is just beginning to show signs of self-destruction.

As such, I just can't be arsed spending the time and energy to shuffle and re-shuffle all my data to gamble on a huge chunk of data I'm not 100% convinced I'm going to enjoy anyway.

Also, my ISP is a little bit edgy about excessive monthly download amounts, so all in all - bleh! :D

@pcgneurotic

It's for 5 weekends of testing. 5 60-hour testing sessions between now and headstart/launch.

Unless you're not interested in action-combat MMOs or have dial-up, I'd say it's worth it, especially since it will tell you whether or not you'll want to play the game when it comes out, let you make up your mind about it sooner.
