Yes, free will is great, however that doesn't make this practice any less disgusting.

@Renko

If the boxes weren't so inexplicably, insanely popular the first time they were offered, then they wouldn't have come back.

Many of the same people who bitterly decried the Paid Mystery Box idea simultaneously bought the boxes in droves, because they just couldn't turn away from the miniscule chance that they might win a Jem'Hadar starship to play with in-game.

It was said up-front that winning the starship was like, well, winning the lottery, but people still paid for box after box after box.

We may not like the practice, but I'd hardly suggest Cryptic is disgusting for offering the prize boxes. No one is forced to buy or to do anything. The buyers make themselves participants.

I plan to ignore the prize boxes completely, and you can too! :-)

Cheers,

@Renko Nothing disgusting here at all. It's a free game and the stuff you get out of the box is fluff. If you are a sub you free free c-store points every month. And you still have the ability to trade in game dilithium for cstore points.

@WeirdJedi Yeah. I bought a key once in TF2, got something stupid. Never again.

Sorry Cryptic. I won't take the bait.

Thank goodness I think the Cardassian designs are some of the worst damn things to ever be a part of the Trek universe (besides jj-Trek) -- I can safely pass on this. :)

....... screw the Galor-Class Starship, I'd much rather keep the space distorting box that it came in. Maybe that's just me tho >.>

There are ways to do F2P right. Telling a player after they've earned something that they have to pay real cash to get into it isn't one of them.

I was considering trying STO on the free opportunity. If this is the direction Cryptic's taking the game, I'll pass on that.

I downloaded the game on Saturday and must admit that i'm enjoying the game so far. I just hit lvl 10??\Lieutenant Commander and there are a few things that i need to get used to. Travelling in sector space to other parts of space is quasi confusing, but i am getting the hang of it. Setting up the action bar when i received my new ship caused small fits of rage.

I have not done any of the pvp or pve team oriented stuff, but there are tons of people flying around sector space which is a good sign. There are tons of quests that were giving to me from Earth Spacedock and it doesnt feel like i am noob when i patrol systems and blast NPCs.

One thing that gives me a "aarrgghhh" moment is my inability to speak in the zone channel or whisper other players. n2s when that stops.

if any1 wants to add me to show me the ropes or just to shoot the breeze id greatly appreciate it! Rafael@dairamx2
