The "if not later" part means if they don't find another reason to prolong the beta. XLGAMES wants to get as much constructive feedback as possible, so if the new update they say they're going to push soon changes a lot and that too needs refinement, then who knows what will happen.

But otherwise March 11th is a realistic end date for CBT4.

ok, so.. while browsing the Guild Wars 2 articles on my fav mmo sites I always come across a few people that speak SO highly of this game and compare it to the coming of a god or something.

I am curious tho.. why have I never heard any MAJOR site reference it? or boast bout having the newest in game footage.. or even WHY it's fans feel the need to attack/spam GW2 articles with how much better it'll be *(AA IS the real wow killer, GW2 has nothing on it ~ type of stuff).

IDK ask why GW2 fanboys always spam every TOR article with how GW2 is the 2nd coming.

This game can't really be compared as it is a sandbox game, widely different from GW2.
whereas the environment responds to the player in gw2, Archeage is made so that players can respond to players, with for example navy or war, so on, not saying there aren't monsters. And as it being a sandbox game the variety of things that you can do far exceeds those of gw2.

still looking more forward to gw2 though, but archeage is sharing second place with AoW, for that is

@Harley Dude ~ yea.. that's cause GW2 actually has gameplay footage and many MANY *documented* reasons for fans to get excited *(expecting it to be awesome).

Where as AA fans just come off arrogant or foolish.. would be like someone watching the FFXIV launch trailer and never actually playing the game, going around to the biggest kids in the play ground and telling them they're old news and to expect to be shoved in a locker after school.

It's just doesn't seem justified..

Granted.. it's still foolhearty to boast bout a game yet to come out, no matter how awesome the game looks on paper...

You have trucloads of videos about Archeage gameplay. Go look for them.
The game is amazing in its own right and its the game that many MMO players have been clamoring for since it is a mixture of theme park with sandbox.

@Everfaust Oh I thought massively readers are mature enough to avoid that crap hahaha. Anyhow, here's a few selling points of AA I can think off the top of my head. first is the sanbox ones:
1. Skill based game. You combine 3 out of 10 skill sets such as melee, range, assasin, magic, healing, buff... to make your own class. 120 combinations available.
2. Landscape interaction in a consistent, open world. This means harvesting/growing tree/corps and housing and more.
3. Open world PVP ranging from your good old ganking to siege warfare to gain territory control.
4. You can go build ship and go explore the vast ocean. This means ocean world boss /watch?v=F1WRktXLtrM and naval warfare
5. Best gears come from crafting. They are considering item decay.
Next, your themepark rides:
1. Quests, '?' and '!'
2. You can get gears from raids, dungeons but they can't be enchanted.
3. There are battlegrounds but they serve as a training ground for the siege warfare only.
4. All the open world PVP stuff will be done at the 3rd continent. If you commit a PK crime on the 2 starting continents you will leave some kinds of bloodstain as proof. If it is returned to the NPC you will be put into jail and you will pay it with your online time. Going offline doesn't help.
AA has much more to offer than GW2 imo but hey, GW2 is B2P so I can get them both. Win win situation.

Coke vs. Pepsi and fanboyism aside, the reason why you don't see North American sites reporting news on it is because there is no North American publisher for the game. Most gaming sites are not going to spend time reporting on a game that has no solid plans to be released to their target audience.

I assume the reason Massively is reporting news on it is because the developers have stated they are targeting a "worldwide" release. So like Aion or TERA, after the game is launched in Asia, they will start working on launching in other territories, and it will most likely be launched here someday. Once the plans to launch in North America or Europe are finally announced, they will have been reporting on the game for several years at that point, so they get some serious street cred as "the place" for MMO news.

I know your question was mostly a loaded question to disparage AA's fans, but the reason you don't see NA news sites pick up these stories is because until plans for a NA release are announced it is mostly a non-story.

Huh? What?

Never saw ArcheAge fans attacking GW2 :o

Maybe few individuals ,but most of AA community have neutral or even positive feeling towards GW2. Some even plan to play both of them. (like me, AA as main mmropg , GW2 as main before AA release and then as secondary after AA).

Besides those game will be vastly diffrent. Both have possibilities to be really good games, though offering diffrent type of gameplay.

Seriously don't start try to start flamewar - it is weak and childish.

GW2 is a sandpark imo seeing that you can pick what class combination and skill combo's you want to use.

@Maseno By that logic Rift, DCOU, FFXIV, etc would be a sandpark.

sometimes there is a delay of up to a minute. You just need to be patient. If you hold shift while reloading, it should dump your cache and you'll see you post quicker. If you watch the number of comments, it'll go up and down like mad which is also strange. Additionally, if you post and then go look at an article with a different browser it won't appear for a while. My guess is that there's some moderation delay trickery going on in the background, but it's mostly broken as is the commenting itself, with the absence of editing and deleting.

Last year I heard the game was terrible and boring, maybe they've improved it significantly since then but it's a title that I'll be waiting a good 6 months to a year to hear all the reviews by players and critics alike after it's released before I try it out.
