TERA's EU sneak peek weekend canceled due to unknown technical fault

Upcoming fantasy MMO TERA has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons, from controversial IP blocking to NCSoft's ongoing lawsuit against developers En Masse Entertainment. Today we add another story to the growing list of problems plaguing TERA as its European sneak peek weekend has collapsed due to unknown technical issues. Though a limited number of preview keys were given out for the event, the game and login servers broke down shortly after the preview got underway.

The event that fans were looking forward to has now been canceled, with no date for a restart yet announced. The official TERA Europe Facebook page confirms that "The cancellation was not due to load problems caused by the large number of potential players," but was unable to shed any light on what caused the fault or when the sneak peek event would resume. With the game's US launch set for May 1st and its European launch shortly after on May 3rd, we can only hope that these problems are ironed out soon.

Sucks for any of the European players who wanted to get into this.

Let's just hope that these sudden issues aren't just the tip of the iceberg for TERA as a whole outside of the Asian market, since I doubt the game can take much more of a beating.

WTB new publisher for EU TERA.

They had the developers working on the problem as well and still couldn't fix it. I doubt a new publisher is a solution.

Clearly something is broken with their version of the game, anything else could've been fixed in the 24 hrs they were working on it.

Any word as to whether or not we can start preinstalling the game in the US? I can't log in on the launcher since I apparently don't have access.

For launch? It better be ready for next weekends US closed beta event!

Flops hard in 1-3 months after launch everywhere its been so far. Now this?

Remember my original comment when the game has merged 3/4 of the servers 1-2 months after launch.

Does it have to be the next big thing to enjoy it? No, but you'll be playing in a ghost town very shortly after release.

Sneak peek is just another word for beta.
I really wish developers can just withhold any marketing campaigns
until they are sure that the game is ready to go live without much hiccups.
Never the less I'm looking forward to Tera.

@BubleFett Oh, that would be so nice if they did! Every-time some marketing department cooks up a new cauldron of hype, I can just hear developers gritting their teeth.

Not a great start for them, but at least it happened during the "sneak peak weekend" instead of during the open beta or at launch.

So happy NA publisher is En Masse and not Frogster.

But if En Mase and Blue Hole lose the NCSoft law suite, is goodbye TERA US. And the servers may go to Frogster, since they are runing the EU ones, plus they have the team for TERA. I prefer to play a game from a bad company but with the confidence i will find the game active when i wake up, than of a company that may close the servers for Copyright problem on any moment.
