What are they going to do with traits and classes that have already being unlocked?

I bought my jumper with gold and play it as my main, it has 17/18 traits unlocked...does that mean it was all for nothing...=(

@Judge

when they cut the price on some classes, the currency used for purchase was refunded to the new price (IE: if you paid 9800 tokens and the new price is 1800 tokens, you got 8000 back, same for gold).

no word if this is what will happen this time, but at least it is a good precedent.

@fallwind

confirmed, in the patch notes they stated that all XP, tokens and gold are being refunded so you can buy the new classes/upgrades.

@KTrell

there are a few flaws remaining (overly exposed flags, meaningless generators, radically overpowered vehicles), but it is making progress towards the greatness of t2.

I'm definitely giving the beta another look. I was loving the game before but decided to hold off on playing too much until it was closer to release. This sounds intriguing and I know at least one person that will be thrilled to hear about customization because he didn't care for the game without it.

@Eamil

FYI all progress you make in the game now will carry over into open beta and release.

Hi-Rez has proven to be very iterative with Tribes which is a good thing. They have been listening to the community a lot and the game is benefited from it.

I've been waiting for some more Tribes news so I could leave these here:

This is amazing!

Here's another beta code:

Also, you should still be able to get beta codes from their facebook page through the little app they have:

Yeah, I know, it's more about waiting until the game isn't changing significantly every week or so. ;)

Although, I haven't been keeping track of the patch notes for a while so I should probably go do that.

Amazing how much they've been willing to change in response to forum threads. Stunning.

It's already so much fun I play nothing else.

This just makes things that much better.

I just read the full patch notes. I think I'm in love.

Also, they're giving everyone a full XP/token/Gold refund and allowing them to start fresh with the new system and their previously earned currency/XP. They pretty much had to for the unlock/perk system considering how thoroughly they revamped it, but I'm glad they're giving gold refunds too for the class unlocks.

I played a bit about a month after the beta started. Game feels like it caters far to heavily to a certain subset of Tribes players(Skijump obsessed CTF on Katabatic.)

My brothers and I only ever played Tribes for Defend and Destroy. If we wanted CTF we'd play Well6 in Team Fortress Quake.

It's kind of annoying. The interviewer almost outright asks "When are we getting D&D back?" and the dev waffles with a "Well, we'll eventually release CTF maps that aren't postage stamps with useless generators and base defenses."

It's sad, but Planetside 2 will probably play more like the Tribes I remember than Tribes:Ascend.

@Regault

I agree it definitely doesn't play anything like old Tribes.

I'm probably just to old to adapt to the new game play, or something... Even with all the changes in that patch the game is still lacking true Tribes feeling..
