Mythos is the MMO that almost wasn't, then was, then wasn't, and then was again. The free-to-play Diablo-esque MMO was in playable beta as far back as November 2007, but its release was plagued by problems you wouldn't wish on your worst enemies.
Mythos has somehow survived its entire original development team being fired, legal battles over the intellectual property rights to the game, and being kicked from publisher to publisher. Now in its third incarnation as Mythos Global, the game will soon relaunch to excited fans, and to curious gamers who didn't play it while it was live.
If you didn't snag one of Massively's keys for the closed beta back in December, your chance to play the game starts now! Mythos Global officially entered open beta today, with free registration available via its new publisher T3Fun.

no thanks...Asian companies have destroyed what made the game fun.

This game was great in its first incarnation, before Flagship had to shut it down.
Since then it was skinned, gutted, and had all of its internal organs replaced with inferior copies that don't fit well together. Then they slapped the skin back on, but the skin was damaged and messy...
So basically, this version of Mythos is the Frankenstein's Monster version of Mythos. Ugly, dysfunctional, and overall just hard to even look at.

This publishers other relaunch turned into a cash shop convention and it quickly exceeds the cost of a normal monthly subscription.
To make matters worse, I found out what it is like to do business with T3fun. I asked them to remove my account and their response was "that service is not available".
Fantastic so you hold on to my info until you decide to sell it off or the inevitable oh we have been hacked sorry your financial records were compromised...

IIRC, Blizzard will do this, and it is non-reversible.

Would some one be kind enough to list what has actually changed since the last (failed) launch?
Have they done a major overhaul to the payment model and/or gameplay?

I can't say for certain how well it will do this time. I tried it's last incarnation, and it unfortunately didn't hook me at all. After seeing the name of the company in charge this time around though, I find myself forced to quote the Nostalgia Critic.
"Well, if you have to put "FUN" in the name, you know it can't be very good."

I might load it up out of a morbid sense of curiosity just to see how it is different from the time I tried it. I can't keep track of which incarnation I saw last time.

I wanted to play this so badly a few years back. Now, I have no interest at all sadly. Maybe it's just all of the negatives I've heard during each stage of it's growth or maybe it's the current idea that it is a grinding game, but yeah I'll let other people make up their minds before I try.

The article is a little off. Mythos was never "released", even in it's reincarnations it's been stuck in a state of Beta.
Mythos under Flagship(The best version that had a great chance being the next best ARPG to Diablo 2 at that time) was in Closed Beta Phase 3 with Overworld Test Center. Apart from performance issues(there were memory leaks that had fixes). The beta of both the instanced hub Mythos and the Overworld Test center was pretty bug free(except that overworld bug where wolves were reproducing at an extreme rate, overloading the server which was fixed promptly), nothing game breaking at least. Mythos FSS closed because FSS shut down.
Mythos was then picked up by Hanbitsoft(one of it's publishers) and ended up in the form of frogster's version. Global is pretty much frogsters version.
"Global" is also BS, most of the regions that Frogster had the rights to are blocked.

T3Fun has the reins on this one?
Oh ok, so no development, cash shop cash grab until eventually the game dies.
Yea, I'll pass.
