Humans are the standard basis for comparison in games that feature non-human races, almost as if said games were being made by humans for other humans. But there's still a distinct flavor to the human race depending on the setting. Case in point, the latest WildStar "interview" with one of the three lore characters from the cinematic trailer gives players a peek at a typical human, and he's a bit different than what you might have been expecting.
While the other major characters identify a specific world as "home," humans are portrayed as being a bit more free-forming, having roamed out in space for so long that they're really not bound to a location. The entry also discusses some of the lore behind being an Explorer and some of the perils associated with intentionally venturing into the unknown (it involves lots of things that try to eat you, if you need the short version). If you've been enjoying the flavor of the world Carbine Studios is slowly building, you'll probably enjoy this latest look as well.

I have never once, given the choice, choose to play a human character. There has to be some sort of pseudo-psychoanalysis out there about what that says about me as a person.
So this is less than interesting news for me. That said, any WildStar news is good news. Hopefully this trend continues and we get some larger looks and info about the game.

@Apakal
Me too, as far as I'm concerned games are my momentary escape from reality and since I'm already human I don't want to escape to a magical land of wonder only to be a human.

Love the look of the game, but what about gameplay? We don't really know much about that yet.

@Lenn There's a short gameplay trailer on the site.
I watched it until I saw the telltale target ring around an enemy mob, which tells me that it's another tab-targeting antique MMO.
If I have to pre-select targets then this MMO is old generation and no matter how sparkly and cute it may be, it will not be my game.

All I really want to know about this game is when is it coming out?
The "hype" for this game is very clever and engaging, but it's hard data -- combat mechanics, crafting, instancing, classes, etc -- that I want.
Most of all ... the release date. :)

@cursedlegend The cinematics are Pixar-esque, but the brief gameplay trailer looks an awfully lot like... dare I say this... WoW in space.
I hope that I'm wrong, but I see what looks to be tailored mini-games for archetype players (The explorer gets to dodge avalanches, et cetera...) and what appears to be a targeting circle (Tab-target-rotation-based?).
