Sorry, EA's PR machine isn't a reliable source for any real info. I'm going to go with the slanted presentation of the info point of view. To get a "Founders" title you had to subscribe beyond the first thirty days, and that was put out right before the first thirty days. I'm sure they got a lot of us to re-sub just for that title. Even if we weren't going to stay, many of us would want it "just in case" we came back later on down the line.

I actually did the 90 day payment plan so they'll got payment from me until April. Which they'll count as a part of their subscription numbers even though the account actually was canceled.Don't blame them for doing that btw, since it is counted as money paid out for the next two plus months.

That said, the game is still buggy, badly optimized code wise for their graphic engine.(Could be limitations of Hero Engine..we are talking about Simutronics after all when it comes to the engine) The game misses on a lot of standards that make up a mmorpg. Immersion is lousy, the game worlds are dead like a 1960s Hollywood Sound stage, UI blows. Space, space combat, ships etc really are lame, painfully lame.

Basically Bioware has a lot of work to do before this game will keep players long term. We'll see in six months where it stands. Based on how Bioware/EA have operated during the past couple months though, I'd not put a lot of cash down on it being an over all success long term. I'd call it the long shot pay off bet. Which means if they remove their heads from their backsides the pay off could be big for them, big if there.

I agree 100% with you on this one. These numbers are fishy, especially with all the hate I have read on THEIR forums from their own players.

Clearly you are unfamiliar with MMO forums in general.

@chum You may want to know that numbers given during an official financial call of a publicly traded company have legal value. Falsifying them is a criminal offense.

Sorry to burst a bubble there, but your theory is absolutely ludicrous. You and all the few hundreds haters that are plaguing the forums and every comment thread on the game they can find may want to get used to the fact that the game is a success.

More luck next time.

The minority that hates the game go to the forums to rage, the rest are too busy enjoying the game.

Also, active forum users represent about 1% of the playerbase.

I believe they classified a subscriber as someone still on their "trial", which I assume means their free month with box purchase. So it's kind of a clever way of distorting how many people haven't subbed after their free month.

@(Unverified) if you are suggesting Listed companies don't paint numbers in the best light possible in reporting season......

@Maseno Of course you do. And yet, you have nothing to back that up except your hatred.
And you know where that leads.

Until you and people like you can come up with actual numbers and logic beyond "I don't like the game therefore it will fail" I'll stick with the official response and numbers thanks.

I didn't stick with SWTOR - it wasn't different enough. I'm not looking for yet another game that I need to remember 50 different buttons per character.

@Azzura Guild Wars / 2 should be right up your alley.

GW2 requires slightly more skill to play, thus focusing more on the hardcore player base. More hardcore players, less casual players = less overall population.

You should start preparing counter-arguments for all the "GW2 failed" posts that will come out, citing subscription numbers.

That will be difficult, since GW2 doesn't have a subscription.

What the hell are you smoking?

GW2 hardcore focused? GW2 a subsciption? Then you have audacity to turn around and ask for cititation. Here's some advice: Make sure you have your own facts straight before posting in future. Thx.

Does less casual players mean a return to actual game play in games too?
Things to solve? Actual danger in combat?
If so, sign me up.
Today's definition of hardcore seems to mean anything harder than Barbie Shop and Dress-up.

On a more serious note, I just wanna say grats to BioWare. The game may have its flaws but probably doesn't deserve the amount of hate it's getting. Haters gonna hate, but just remember one thing about success: it's the haters that keep you afloat. :-)
