Does this need to be said? If your developers AREN'T playing the game I'd be seriously concerned. Seriously.

@kalipou134 No kidding. Sorcs have everything, yet they cried and cried about OPs and got em nerfed. Now your lucky if hidden strike even takes down their lame OP bubble.

@edgecrusherO0 It isn't crazy for a Dev not to play there own game, and I doubt that ALL (if any) of there devs play as their PRIMARY game. Think of it in terms of an author, you spend all day writing and creating a story and (a good author) wouldn't necessarily need to read what you just wrote to understand where your at. Yea, an occasional reading helps to make sure your ideas are getting across, but if you wrote the book, you don't need to spend the same amount of reading as a fan would to reach the same level of familiarity with the story.

Its true that he can say "all his dev's play the game" because you can't NOT play some things in order to test them out, make sure the things you are responsible for made it into the build properly. Bug fixes you put in come back failed, and you have to fire up a build and take a second look etc.

But, just because all developers play it in this manner, does NOT make them "end users" so to speak. Theirs a big difference of playing your product as a dev, and actually being a member of the user community.

The majority of dev's are not really end users. They are much too close to it to be able to say that.

So this assertion is mostly malarky for what we as actual patrons consider an actual "player" of the game.

@edgecrusherO0

It may seem obvious that developers would play their own game, but I would suggest the complete opposite. I would be surprised if anyone who was deeply involved in the development seriously played the game.

It's kind of hard to really enjoy something that you've identified as "work" for the last five years. Where you see every flaw and bug, and where you know of a bunch of cool features that never made it into the game due to time constraints. Where you know all the plot twists, all the cutscenes, storylines, and intimately familiar with the game mechanics.

This sounds like another bout of Bioware PR exaggerations.

@JonBuck I'm actually finding STO more fun to play than my stint in TOR. It's not perfect, but the spacefaring sci-fi mechanics are there.

@Joaquin Crowe Same here . I'm suprised to be enjoying STO . The thing that disapointed me most in ToR was the space combat which for me is intergral to both franchises . It was one of the factors that led me to put my ToR account on hold . I will give it a second chance though at some point .

BioWare are great in Marketing, But its all talk until we really see a huge of account of content being added. I will wait like 2/3 months more before I buy it and if their is not a huge content release within that time I will not buy it!

BioWare still will get my money for there Mass Effect 3 game! And they did make a Mass Effect mmo I was buying it already!

@TheJackman I will disagree... their marketing is actually pretty awful. I would probably give them the gold star of ineptitude with their press release comparing to their game to The Jazz Singer -- a movie that, while bringing sound to movies, also has a lovely blackface number (*cough* racism).

They've stated 1.2, the March release, will include:
A new planet
A new warzone (battleground)
A new flashpoint (dungeon)
A new operation (raid)
The legacy system
Graphical improvements

And those are just the ones I can name off the top of my head.

@KvanCetre Just a small quirk on my part, but it drives me up the wall when they say they are adding a 'planet', and then give you a glorified box canyon surrounded by a fantastic matte painting.

Nope. Planets are large versions of zones. To include full size planets would give us the lifeless barrens that were planets in SWG.
