I still wish this game would have gone subscription based instead of cash shop and catering to "whales" and the pay for power crowd. The game is gorgeous and plays well, but unless you have money for all the crap on the cash shop you can't really keep up.

I feel sorry for Allods. It was one of the few f2p titles to get some serious buzz going in the wider MMO community, only to completely fumble it and never really recover. Maybe I'll take a second look when Game of Gods releases, but in my heart I know I'm just going to run out of quests and have to grind for hours on end yet again.

@Daemodand

It only fumbled because they have a ridiculously overpriced cash shop in the beginning. I guess they didn't realize how well gamers have been train to retain their rage at games for the entirety of their lives.

@Maseno ever heard the saying "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" ?

very applicable to Allods Online... or is it not true that the perfume crap is still part of the game? is it not true that if you chose to play it, say 8 hours a day, you have to buy perfume from the cash shop because the daily quests don't give enough? is it not true that from like level 15 you constantly run out of quests and have to grind a good 1/3 of the level?

last i checked all this was still true... so nothing has actually changed about Allods Online... they're just not as ham fisted about ridiculous cash grab...

This game had real promise... I played it all the time in beta.. i loved the steampunky soviet feel... but i don't do pay to win and neither do a lot of other people ;)

@eLdritchZ

prefume is called incense for like a year now and it doesnt even work as old perfume. Damage / healing buff from patronage quests is active 24/7 and you do not have to activate it in any way so yeah Your information are a bit misleading ;D

technically, yes but you can buy an "holy charms" in item shop that protects you from tep curse. It is the only item in shop that cost 0 gpotato (that means completely free, no expiration time) so you can just buy 10,000 charms and you wont have think about it for next x years. Each charm

As far as i know charms are free in US and EU version only.

I play this game once in a blue moon. I enjoy the music/graphics/atmosphere but I refuse to invest any money into it, and the combat is a little too slow paced for my liking.

Except, of course, they're in a higher resolution than WoW can even dream of, and have a nice, sharp, crisp, clean look that - again - WoW just doesn't have.

@ZyZ I'd agree with that. The graphics are gorgeous.

The background music needs to be consistent though, and the animations aren't quite as good as other AAA MMOs, but the quality of Allod's production does show, and the game has a lot of heart and charm to it.

I only wish it had a subscription model, at least as an option :(

@ZyZ PvP is a premium feature though... unless you really enjoy having absolutely no chance to win... ever ;)

Maybe you are right, or maybe you are wrong

http://armory.allodslive.net/characters

4th placed is occupied by free to play player. Most allods players do not use armory but im 100% sure that you cant get much better score than those guys in top 5.
