When I was much younger, still playing on consoles mainly, I was first introduced to Online gaming with PSO.

Really looking forward to trying the sequel.

It sounds like they kept a lot of the good little details from PSU, which I'm very happy about. I really hope they decide to release it internationally.

The first PSO really is what sold me on online gaming. I played it so much that even now I feel like digging it back up on my dreamcast. I really hope this makes it stateside.

Cool, I have a soft-spot for the phantasy star series and hope to see this game do well.

@Plastic

Wow, after watching the footage I'm really excited. The combat looks really fun. Ranged melee? Yes, please.

It would be even better if I could play this game on my Dreamcast 2.

@Plastic I used to play PS on my old Genesis. Compared to today's gameplay options it was super limited, but it was great fun then, some of the best!

Hmm...
I'm digging the bits of shown locational damage. Watching the Volcano Dragon fight, the crystal on his tail can be destroyed, though all it seems to do is trigger a vulnerability window where he needs to pause to regrow it. I hope there's more done with the idea instead of just making them stop for a second, like better rewards or the like (optional objectives so to speak).

There was also a camera shift in that same dragon fight, where it went more over-the-shoulder and allowed the player to move a reticule about for their attacks, instead of the general view seen throughout the videos.

I'm also liking the flow of combat, some of the weapons styles (the twin dagger/cable weapons for instance), and the graphics. Though, I know the game will be Pay-to-play, and I don't know if I'll be playing it if it ever comes state side because of that.

@DevilSei

also, just noticed this but...
I'm disappointed Mr. Drain, if you had replaced all instances of "f" with "ph", you would of had exactly five "ph"'s in that title.

If this comes over here pay to play... It'll end up the same way as PSU. I really doubt this game will be topping Blade and Soul... or TERA, now that I think about it.

I just hope that the somewhat dull grind of PSO will at least feel less tedious in PSO2. Can't wait to see if this comes out in the US though.

This is basically on the top of my 'want' list for online games/MMO's. The fact that the combat was never the hotbar-tastic BS MMO's have decided to use repeatedly made me love this series from the release of PSO.

I can see an English release. If anything, to increase the profitability. Will put on my "to watch" list...

I am in the alpha as well.
This game is so good right now, even as an alpha.
This will be stellar on release.

is this an actual MMO, or just a the same setup as PSO?

don't wanna waste time reading about it and watching the videos if its the latter.

if the former, then it wouldn't be a waste of my time.

Unfortunately (for you), the game will follow the traditional ways of PSO. Personally, I never found anything wrong with how PSO originally handled the game, but to each their own. This game is certainly #1 on my list. I've been a fan of PSO ever since the old Dreamcast days. Hopefully this game will release by the time I arrive in Japan for work later this year.

thanks.

i see from all the downvoting that people hate that i have a preference for virtual worlds over small scale games. *sigh*

PSO has always been Instance based, instead of Open World. The people who truly Love this series understands the difference between them both. Yes, the PC allows for the game to be better graphically, and certainly graphics are important. However, they aren’t making this game to show off a tech demo, they want to make a game for everyone to enjoy. Sakai wants players to feel the sensation of surprise, discovery, and adventure once more. Not only does he want to capture those familiar to the series, but he wants to introduce a game that’s fun and interesting to those inexperienced with online games. This was started to allow players with PCs to readily play the game. There’s no need for you to think that you need the latest PC to play because the game’s graphics can be adjusted. PSO2 faces many challenges and one of the challenges is to focus on those who don’t play PC games. (Since people are misinterpreting this, it means to convert those who are unwilling or afraid to play PC games. This has nothing to do with a console version.)
